Chapter 21: A Turn of Surprise

Mick cleared his throat hearing Leo's stern voice. "Well.." Leo stepped forward pinning Mick against the wall glaring at him straight in the eyes. "What's going on Mick!" He hissed. "Tell me.. Now.. My family's life depends on whatever information you and the team have been holding back." Mick gave his partner a glare in return. "I.. We weren't holding information!" He spat back. "We just wanted to be one hundred percent sure of what was going on. I will explain everything to you. I promise.. But we need to get to earth five. Or Rip could be in danger."

"What about the kids?" Sara questioned. "Abby is old enough and more than capable of watching Lisa on their own. Why don't you and Mick head off. I'll let Abby know that we have a quick errand." This seemed to give a red flag for Mick. It wasn't too often they left the girls on their own. Let alone the way Leo behaved towards him. They still usually made quick time to ask Thea to keep watch. Whenever they had to go somewhere. But if Mick mentioned anything, he knew it would set things off. Then Sara might never get to where they needed to be. Plus, Mick knew the team was watching the area so he could take Sara out while Leo was distracted. And get her to the correct earth.

Mick could see Sara must've sensed it too. Leo's odd behavior. Because she spoke as soon as they exited the house. "Where's the others?" She whispered. Mick gave Sara's hand a small squeeze. "Don't worry. They're nearby. I'll explain once we get there." "Abby and Lisa aren't really in their room are they?" She questioned. Giving Mick a sideways glance. Sara was about to go check on the girls before Mick showed up, because it'd been too quiet in their room. "No.. They're not. Captain Stein has them. We wanted to take all precautions."

Sara sighed a little. Glad that at least they were someplace safe. And the team thought ahead. She didn't know what was going on with Leo. But she knew whoever this was, wasn't her husband. And they haven't been for awhile. Whoever this was, was unpredictable. "Why is Rip on earth five?" She asked as they made quicker steps away from the house. Sara was aware Mick was trying to hurry because it wouldn't be long before Leo realized the girls weren't there. And hell would break loose.

"Don't suppose you've heard the term doppleganger?" Mick questioned as he got far enough away before taking out a device. "And we're not heading to earth five. We're actually going to earth two. We couldn't say so though in front of.. Whoever this is.." "A dopple what?" Mick took a deep breath. "When Barry went back in time to try and save his mother. Gideon revealed there were multiple earths. Not just ours. And on these earths. Some of them have dopplegangers. Or what you call your look alike. But they don't act like we do here. There could be a nice version of me believe it or not." Mick smirked. "Or an even more cruel version.." Sara looked amused at Mick's comments. "You're not as bad as you lead people to believe Mick. You've come along way since captain Hunter found and gathered us. I hate to give you the bad news. But you are nice." She mused. Mick rolled his eyes. "I am not." He mumbled. Sara glanced at the device Mick held in his hand. Since she hadn't been on the ship for awhile now, she didn't know any new technology things they had.

"What's that?" She asked, pointing at the device. "Oh.. This.." He cleared his throat. "Well.. You know those devices Ava had for her agents last year that swiped memories? Well.. This is another sort of device we were able to get off her agents now that she's no longer there. It sort of is a portal. It opens a portal like screen to get us from one place to the other. I didn't think Gideon could get us to earth two. So I asked Gary for one of these." Mick explained.

Sara raised an eye at the unfamiliar name. But knew there wasn't enough time to ask about that. That was minor to what she really wanted to know. "Quickly!" Mick exclaimed opening the portal. He turned his head to see Leo catching up with them and didn't want him making it into the portal. Sara was about to ask more about this doppleganger thing. When she heard Mick's command. She quickly followed in after Mick. The portal barely closed before Leo managed to catch up. "Damn it!" She heard him yell out just as the portal closed behind them. Sara couldn't help but give a small smirk.

"So.. What you're saying is.. This could be my husband's doppleganger? Not my husband?" Sara quickly walked with Mick to where he was leading her to. She was worried about what she might find when she found her husband. How long had this doppleganger been posing as Leo? And what if her husband had been dead this whole time.. And she never knew. Mick watched Sara closely as they walked to the location that Rip gave them on the waverider. Noticing a tear slip down her face as she thought those thoughts.

"Hey.. It'll be okay.." Sara shook her head. "What if he's dead Mick.. What if he's been dead this whole time.. And.." Mick took a deep breath stopping and standing in front of Sara. Placing both his hands on her shoulders to keep her from continuing on. Looking her straight in the eyes. "If there's one thing I've known about my partner. He's stubborn. And strong. He doesn't let anybody take him down that easily. Certainly not no sissy doppleganger."

Sara closed her eyes. "I should've known.. I should've realized sooner. I placed our kids in danger.. I've been so out of the loop.. I must be losing some of my instincts. Otherwise I would've known.." Mick furrowed his brows. Before pulling Sara into a hug. He felt her arms slip around him after he wrapped his arms around her for a hug. "Don't blame yourself.. if anyone is to blame. It should be me. He was my partner first after all." Mick smirked at the comment. Trying to lighten the situation. "I had my suspicions.. But I wanted to be one hundred percent sure. So I spoke with Rip. That's why he's here." Mick started to explain.

"Tsk tsk.. Look at that. My wife and my old partner.." Mick and Sara quickly pulled back hearing Leonard's voice. Sara whipped around, positioning herself so she was now standing next to Mick and glaring at her husband's doppleganger.
