Written by Raven, to Yang.
I don't think you'd ever understand...
I'm not sure I would either, if I were you.
I longed to sit and hold your hand,
explain the whys of what I had to do.
I don't think you'll ever forgive...
I'm not sure I would either, to take a guess.
An errant feather, a raven's shadow,
My only gifts, no more no less.
You had no words, you were too young,
to have a say in my decision.
Ignoring the pleas from your father's tongue,
I couldn't stay, despite derision.
In leaving I started creating my armor,
piece by piece and link by link;
And under it my heart to cover,
the tears it quelled in every blink.
Each time I saw you, I forged another.
My ache behind the metal mosaic;
Couldn't bear the thought that I was your mother;
Couldn't salvage for you my love archaic.
I strived in vain, my pain to numb,
I would dull this longing with maiden powers!
But what kind of song could I possibly sing?
What sort of Spring abandons her flower?
Your words - an attack upon my armor!
Each letter an aimed and pointed spear!
The wheels of time hone dangerous edges,
Each head, the sharpness of seventeen years.
Away I flew, for I could not stand,
my blood as tears upon that vault.
My heart exposed, the path I chose;
Each scrap of steel, another fault...
