Amnesia

Chapter 2- Reality

It was back to school and I was shocked to know the day after her bestfriend is going to be our new classmate, I know she knows I like her bestfriend and the worst part was she was seating right next to me.

I tried to act normal but I know that she really wanted to talk to me about her.

"Uhmmm, hey, M-Mike?" She asked

"Oh hey Kate! What is it?"

"Uhmmm I wanna know, do you like.."

"Jewel? Yeah I like her! Ever since I was a little rascal"

"What?!" She replied "I just wanted to know if you like to have some brownies"

I was stunned after hearing her question. BROWNIES?!

"What WHAT. Im so sorry, I thought you were going to ask about Jewel and s-stuff!" I nervously stated.

"You like her too?"

"What do you mean by "too"? Theres someone else?" I replied.

"Yeah. Austin likes her too ya know, I even heard Jewel likes him back."

Thats when I realized, I had no chance, they've been having a Mutual Understanding since last year said Kate.

"But tbh, I prefer Austin, to be her..."

"Nahhh its okay Im fine with that, if shes happy Im okay." I interrupted.

Am I really okay with it? NO

"Well its recess now, see you in the next period!" She announced.

It was over, but my heart still believes I have a chance even though it hurts so much seeing Jewel with Austin every minute, every hour, everytime! but then, reality stroked.

A week later Jewel comes to me. Sobbing. As I asked

"Why? Whats wrong?" While wiping her tears with my thumb

"Austin and I fought. I thought we were going to have a good friendship together but, it was just a lie" She cried.

I hugged her tight, like I was never letting go.

"Im s-sorry, Im sorry, Jewel"

"For what?"

"For not protecting you." I replied.

She looked straight into my eyes, and said..

"I-its okay." And hugged me tighter.

My heart was beating like it was going to burst out of my chest.

"Wow, your heartbeat is so strong I could feel it" she stated

"Oh yeah, this was my first time to be hugged by a girl in purpose" I replied

"This was my first time too" she grinned and we laughed.

After that day we became much more closer than we used to because of that. I could even sometimes hear her talking right next to me whenever I read her text.

A good night or a good morning can already make my day complete. It feels like she was already my girlfriend but I know she wasn't.
