Chapter 29- Under The Shady Tree

Mikes P.O.V

As I stepped down the house, I stood by the gate for a minute blinded by the sharp, direct rays of the sun. It was so bright my eyes hurt, as I rubbed them I saw someone trying to surprise me behind the tree, Jewel was ready to start her day with me, and it was time for another adventure, but she still seemed a bit sleepy.

I took my bag filled with shirts as I was about to go, I thought I heard someone say "Goodbye Mike!". But no, there wasn't as Jewel looked at me confused.

"I sighed and scratched my head."

"Whats the matter Mike?" She asked.

I walked up to Jewel,

"Nothing Jewel, just my imagination." I explained.

"Just your imagination?" She repeated absently, she then remembered that its already 8:00 am and hurried to ride a tricycle, finding some loose change for the payment.

"Well where do we start off today Jewel?" I asked.

She came closer and tilted her head beside my shoulder and smiled.

"You seem happy today Jewel?" I asked.

"Im just happy you and I are together." She replied with her cute and sleepy voice.

"Really? Of course you are, Im here, and you're here, were both happy!"

"Im really happy for the both of us Mike, I really.." I saw that the subject was making it too sweet that shes starting to fall asleep and that the driver was already laughing at us so I cut in quickly.

"Lets buy you some breakfast for now Jewel, you still seem drowsy." And we paid the tricycle and sat down a store.

/At the Store\

"Well, stay here for a while Jewel, Ill buy you breakfast." And as I looked at her longingly while ordering, I assured that she was quite hungry.

And it suddenly struck me as I looked back after a second, she was past asleep in the table, so I decided to continue ordering her breakfast and not disturb her.

The minutes had gone down a little and I thought it would be nice to start breakfast together. I bought her hot cocoa and Rice and Eggs and brought it on the table, and, when everything was nice and ready, I gently woke her up.

"Our breakfast is here Jewel, and I bought you hot cocoa, your favorite, and don't worry about you paying me back, this is how much I could do for you as of now, just wait real soon and Ill order you a buffet."

"Aww thanks Mike, thank God, Im really hungry, and to make it special, you waited for me before you start digging in your breakfast."

We started to feast on our breakfast and as I came near to eating my last bite, we were both startled as trouble started outside the store, a cat was caught stealing some of the stores food, so we continued to eat our breakfast and forget about it.

"So what are you getting me this Christmas Mike?" As Jewel gazed at me with excitement.

"Ill buy you a large teddy bear, a teddy bear so large and soft that you'd replace it for your normal pillow, and cuddle with it all night." I answered.

"Maybe that teddy bear might be you?" She joked after hearing my reply.

"You want?" I joked back.

"Sometime soon Mike, pretty young to be cuddling for now."

"Ok, how about you? What are you getting me for Christmas?"

"It'll be a secret Mike." She giggled.

"Aww c'mon Jewel, I told you mine, at least tell yours." I begged.

"Just wait till Christmas nigga, it'll be the best gift."

"What? Why nigga?" As I was confused.

"Oh right, you forgot, well niggas always the best, they the real MVP, they look out for you, care for you and most of all, love you." She explained.

"Silly, but I like it." I smiled with rice stuck in my teeth.

We decided to leave and continue remembering my past but we both sorta decided to forget about trying to make me remember my past, after all, theres nothing "else" to remember, and I was already at the point where Jewel and I are together.

"Are you sure you want to stop catching your past memories? You might regret it." Jewel asked with curiosity.

"Why is there anything "else" I should know?" I asked.

"Not at all Mike, lets just forget about it, c'mon, lets run by the park again, lets stroll around and play tag, sleep under the shady tree and more." She answered back with excitement.

/At the Park\

We ran around the park playing tag, all sweet and fun, butterflies following us as we goofed around, birds chirping when we started to sit down and rest under the shady tree, everything was perfect like some sort of "dream", we quite down and started to fall asleep, I brushed Jewels hair and whispered,

"Thanks for the new memories Jewel, for sure, this time, I wont forget about it, I promise." As I brushed my hand on her hair as she slowly fell asleep in my lap,

"Have a good rest for now Jewel, we had a nice day today, time for some relaxation for now." I continued.

I fell asleep and slightly woke up and I had a feeling that I forgot something that I just remembered a day ago, like a stranger walked up to me and said something about this,

"Isabel!" I shouted inside my head and my eyes so large after remembering about it.

"This tree, I was under this shady tree when I remembered about Isabel, she was my best friend, but I still don't know what happened to both of us, does Jewel know about Isabel? I bet she does." I told myself.

I wanted to wake Jewel up, but she looked so perfect sleeping on my lap, I decided not to wake her up for now, and Ill ask her later.

But after my intense thinking inside my head, Jewel woke up confused of what was going on,

"Anything wrong Mike?" She asked barely awake.

"Nothing Jewel, go back to sleep, sorry for disturbing you, I wont let it happen again." I replied.

"Ok.." As she instantly fell back to sleep.
