Chapter 4- Intramurals

After months of waiting, Intramurals is finally here!! Everyone was excited for every sport in the event, especially me. I was so ready to play against other sections and grade levels especially in basketball. But I came to wonder, what abput Jewel?

"Hey Jewel, what sport you playing?" I asked

"Nothing, Im not really that sporty haha sorry Mike" she replied

"Its okay as long as your here I'm happy"

"Awwww there you go again with your cheesy lines" she giggled.

A few hours later it was game time. We were against the 3rd year Panthers and the first quarter was great we were leading by 3 and at the end of the 3rd quarter the game got much more intense, especially when Austin had join the team, I was assigned to guard him in the game, but he wasn't really that good than I thought he would but at the end we lost to 2 points but it didn't matter because there are still a lot more games to play.

Suddenly I had a weird feeling, like I forgot something. Someone!

"Jewel?!" I wondered where she was when we were in game. I asked some of her friends what happened to her and why isn't she around anymore? Then I saw Kate.

"Kate! Have you seen Jewel?"

"Yeah, she went home after she was hit in the side of the head with a baseball"

"What?! When?! How?! Who?! Why?!"

"Woah calm down. She was trying to find you when she passed by the field and got hit with a home run, she went home after the accident and had a bad headache. Some first year dude hit the ball into her direction during the game, i guess she wasn't really paying much attention." Kate answered

"Shit, this is all my fault, I shouldn't have played"

"Dont feel bad, Well you better at least call her, after all you guys are pretty much close friends"

I got my phone and called her, sadly she wasn't answering the phone, I was worried so I went to her house.

"Jewel?"

"What? Who's there?"

"Its me, Mike!"

She opened the gate and went back inside.

"Jewel, Im sorry if you got hit with the ball, its my fault you're having a bad headache, Im really sorry"

"I know you always wanted to protect me ever since, but I know there are times where you just cant, I understand why you were not there to protect me, its fine. How was the game?"

"Im, sorry Jewel. Don't mind the game, it didn't go well. You alright?" I replied.

After a while I got closer to her, and hugged her.

"I will always be your Prince, Ill never leave my princess no matter what, I promise that this time."

"Thank y-you." She replied.

The next day we had another game but I didn't join because I know something might happen to Jewel again, instead I hung out with her around the school watching other sporty events.

"Hey Mike! Why didn't you show up during the rematch? Were you scared? I was all hyped up to play against you and you didn't even have the guts to show up" Austin shouted

"So what Austin! Nobody cares about you! Thats also one of the reasons why were not friends anymore, your attitude is the one that makes you friendless" Jewel replied

"Thats enough Jewel, lets just leave him to rot alone."

"You bitch!" As Austin punched me from behind.

We had a small fight as Jewel watched.

"Fuckin stop this! Both of you! Especially you Austin! Why cant you just accept the fact I don't like you?! Its all because of your attitude that made you this today!" She shouted.

"You know what? Fuck this!" As Austin left.

"Wow Jewel you were so badass"

"Haha thanks? Cmon lets go fix those bruises of yours in the clinic"

"Hey Jewel?"

"Yeah?"

"I wanna ask, um do you like, to go on a d-date with me this weekend?"

"Im sorry Mike but I cant, I'm sorry, I just need some time"

"Oh okay Jewel, I understand, lets go Ill give you a ride to your place"

"Thanks, Mike"
