His Obsession
Chapter 2
Evangeline
"One black coffee and two blueberry muffins to go. Here you go, have a nice day" I say to the man as I hand him his coffee and little brown bag with his muffins.
The next person in line come up against the register. "I would like a chocolate cupcake" The woman speaks. I smile at her. "Eat here or to go" I ask her. "To go, please" She says.
I pull out a a small brown bag and set a chocolate cupcake in it. "Anything else?" I kindly ask her, as I hand her the brown bag. "No, thank you" She tells me. She pays for it and leaves.
"You're good at this" Kathy says, as she comes to the other side of the register. We work together at this small bakery together.
She helped me get this job two months ago. It wasn't that hard, the owner is her grandfather and she has worked there since she was a child.
"I know, I'm amazing. Hey, how did the date go last night?" I ask her. Some guy she met online took her out last night, she's been without a date for a long time and was too desperate and tried online dating.
Personally, I would not recommend it. Who knows what creeps are wandering the net and are looking for an easy prey.
"It was horrible. I mean, who goes on a date wearing a t-shirt and shorts. It's like he's begging to be dumped. That's it, I'm never getting a date. I'm so done" She tells me dramatically.
She's a diva and a drama queen, yet she's my best friend. While, she's like that I'm the opposite. I'd rather not date and make a big deal about it.
"He wasn't he that hot, I mean he was, but he's not the level of hot I'm looking for" She says, making coffee for her customer.
It's a rather slow day and not many are coming in. That usually happens on Sundays, tomorrow this place will be full of people.
"Attractiveness doesn't reflect the personality, besides haven't you seen how the hot guys always have a girlfriend" I tell her.
Handing the woman her coffee and we are alone here. We stand by the register. "No- maybe" She says, sighing. "I just want a hot guy" She pouts.
I roll my eyes. "And where do you suppose you find that?" I ask, teasing her. Looking for Mr. Right is like trying to find a needle in a haystack, impossible and you don't want to do it.
The bell of the door chimes, she looks up to greet the new customer. "There" She says, pointing at the door. Her jaw practically on the floor and her eyes widened.
Turning around, I loom at the door to see and my jaw falls right next to hers. A man stands there, he walks inside. He wears a dark shade of gray suit.
His light blonde hair bangs go slightly over his dark green eyes. His strong jawline and high cheekbones make any girl drool over him.
"I call dips" She whispers. The man comes to the register. Kathy runs over to take his order, while I stay back and watch as she will make a fool out of herself.
Kathy is the one that when nervous and in front of the opposite gender, she becomes love sick as I call it. She can barely form sentences and does somethings stupid.
I notice that the two of them are flirting with each other. Perhaps this will work, I doubt he's single. A man looking like a Greek god is never a single man. Learned that from experience.
He leaves soon after and he didn't even order anything. I look outside the window and notice him get into a black Lamborghini and drive off.
"He gave me his number, look" Kathy says, dancing around the bakery holding her phone. "I'm going to bang him tonight" She says in a dreamy voice.
"I've been without sex in so long, I need to have a good long fuck with him" She tells me. "All right, too much information that I didn't even need to know" I tell her laughing.
"What, this is human nature" She says, rolling her eyes. "I need to ask him if he has a hot friend for you, but he can't be hotter than him. Wait... I don't even know his name" She tells me and begins to panic.
"You flirted and have a number of a guy that you don't even know the name of?" I ask her. I knew something like this would happen. It's just typical Kathy.
She nervously lets out a laugh. "Maybe... Oh, I've ruined everything" She whines. Like I said, drama queen.
"Kathy, you have his number. You just text him and ask him" I tell her with a 'duh' tone, it's not that hard to figure this out.
"Yes, you're right. Thank you, Eva" She tells me and hugs me. Then she picks up her phone and goes into the bathroom to get some privacy.
While she's there a customer comes in and I assist him and when he leaves she comes back, but she's rushing out the door. "I'm going to see him now, take care of thing for me!" She yells before he runs out of the bakery.
Leaving me alone with the bakery to take care of, this is normal for her to do. She always finds something to run after and leave work.
Sighing, I stand by the register and take a bite of a croissant that I had saved for myself. In the back, the baker, Joshua comes and he begins to bake some things for the bakery.
He's Italian and doesn't understand English and I don't understand Italian, so I don't talk to him.
After work I go to my apartment and make some Lasagna for dinner. I get a text from Kathy and she's going on her date with that guy.
I eat my Lasagna and put on Netflix on the TV. While midway through watching a movie, I hear something outside.
Setting the plate down and pausing the movie, I look outside the window of the living room. It's dark outside and the sky black covered with beautiful sparkling stars.
But, one thing catches me, a car parked right in front of my apartment building. A car that I've seen before. A black Lamborghini.
A man comes out of the car, and I recognize the man. The man that saved my life from being taken back to hell. His head then snaps to the window where I am. His dark blue eyes stare right into mine.
