His Obsession

Chapter 8

Evangeline

"Don't talk so loudly, my ears are bleeding" I groan as I tell Kathy. It's a wonder how she's so cheerful today. She drank as much as I did or even more, and she isn't dying as I am.

"Eva, how many times do I have to tell you, sex makes everything go away. I can't believe you didn't get laid. He was hot, and when I see hot, I mean hot like I want to bang him. My core is already wet just thinking about it" She tells me.

I roll my eyes at her. She literally got a man and now she's drooling over another. Just typical Kathy for you.

"I can't remember a thing from last night" I say, after she had taken an order from a customer. She has been jumping up and down and taking orders like she really likes it.

It's amazing that she can even stand, from her story about how her night was, I'll tell you. She should be stuck to a bed with pain between her legs, that's how he is good in bed. And they went all night.

I guess coffee does this to a person, and knowing Kathy, she's already up for a next round, even if she had many last night. If you know what I mean.

"It doesn't matter, you had fun and that's all that matters" She says. Sometimes I'd wish I could be like her, carefree and act like nothing in the world matters.

Unfortunately I'm not. "What if something had happened to me?" I ask, suddenly all the things I went through flash before my eyes.

No matter what I do and how much I wish to forget it, I can't forget. The memories haunt my dreams and my life. "But nothing did happen" She points out, and is right.

Nothing did happen, yet I have this feeling like something had taken place that I don't know. I guess I'll never know.

The day went by rather quickly and before I knew it, I was back at my apartment, in my bed, trying to ignore the still going police investigation in the apartment building next to mine.

In bed, I lay for what feels like eternity before I stand up and walk over to the window to see what is going on, then I notice that my window is open.

Since I have lived in this apartment, I have never opened the window. Never. It has been broken since I moved in here and I never attempted to fix it and open it.

But, not it isn't broken and I can open it. This is getting creepy and mysterious. I close the window and lock it, hoping that it. Was just the wind that did this.

Without even looking at the things down below, I go back to lying on my bed, trying to remember what had happened to me last night.

It bugs me more than it should that I can't remember, perhaps because of the horrible past that I have had or just because I'm paranoid about everything. I don't know.

"This is stupid" I say to myself and stand up after about a couple of minutes. I dress myself into my pajamas and brush my teeth. Then I lay in my bed, go under the covers and close my eyes and try to fall asleep.

When my mind was close to falling asleep, my eyes open a bit by some distant sound, and a human figure comes to my vision before I close my eyes and the blackness over takes me.
