His Obsession

Chapter 13

Evangeline

I land on my legs on the ground beneath the wall, my right foot didn't right quite right and it's not aching with pain. I don't let that stop me. I've been through all of this before, I've escaped one hell, I can do it again.

I run and run, never caring in which direction I'm running into. I have the advantage because I don't think most of those men are going to be able to climb that wall as fast as I did.

I'm running on a road, as it is the only way for me to get back into a town or anything. This mansion is cut off from rest of the world and because of that, I'm in deep shit.

My lungs are killing me and my legs feel like stopping, but I don't. I have to keep going, no matter what. I will not go through hell again.

Behind me, I hear them following me. That only motivates me to run even faster, faster than my own body can carry me. This is a situation of life and death.

The road is endless, yet is my only way of getting somewhere, if I'm to survive, I will need to find a town or the police or anyone or anything.

A honk of a car behind me breaks me away from my thoughts. I will never be able to outrun the car, but I can try. I hear the engine come closer.

I don't lose hope of getting out of here. Tears stain my vision, as a car to my right comes past me, and right before my eyes it turns around and takes the whole road, as it is on its side.

Thinking quickly, I run to my right, into the grassy field. A forest is here near. I keep running into that direction. Having a hard time breathing, I keep going.

I notice that I am going a lot slower than before, because of the exhaustion in my body, however that doesn't mean I'm stopping.

I don't know what kind of hell is in that castle, but if it's anything like the last hell I was in, then I would rather die than be there.

The forest is rather large as far as I can see and I run into with those men behind me, though they are far behind, but are catching up with me.

The forest doesn't have much light, as the leaves shield it from the sun. That works for my advantage. My eyes are scanning everything.

Looking for a hiding place, and that is where my eyes come a cross a hollow tree in the ground, it's not big and it's easy to miss. I look behind me and notice they don't know where I am.

I take that as an opportunity to go there and hide. I take a few fallen branches with me, and I lie inside the hollow tree, and set the branches on top of the tree.

The tree is big enough to fit me and it doesn't make me feel uncomfortable. Because it is big, I can move around a bit, and when I move the branches or anything moves, so no one sees any movement.

The branches are so thick that I can't even see outside and I don't want to. My breathing are pants, and my heart is beating faster than anything.

I hear them come closer, and I close my eyes. Tears are falling from the corners of my eyes. I bite down on my fingers to not make a sound. The fear of them fining me all around my body and I'm shaking with fear. They're so close, I can hear their breaths.
