Silence fills the room as Jack's eyes fall to his feet. His eyes swell with tears as his heart sinks. Arms wrap around his waist as he's pulled into a hug. His legs go limp as his sobs fill the air.
"I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to-" He stuttered out as his body trembled.
"It's okay, shh, it's okay. It'll all be okay." Mark's voice softly whispered.
His grip tightened as Jack grew weak. His face resting against Mark's chest, listening to his heartbeat. His lips parted slightly as his cries settled down slowly. His arms raised up slowly to Mark's shirt, clenching it tightly.
"I- I-" Jack attempted to speak through the tears and sobs.
"I love you, Sean. I love you so much." Mark whined softly, trying not to let Jack see his eyes swell with tears.
The boys stood at the door for a moment just to embrace one another and familiarize with each other's warmth once again. Jack let his body push into Mark's, as his arms wrapped around even tighter.
"Jack I-" Mark's words broke the silence only to be cut off by Jack's delicate voice.
"Shh, just let me listen to the sound of your heartbeat. I missed it."
Mark smiled slightly, pulling Jack's small figure away from his, looking into his crystal blue eyes coated in tears.
"Jack, I have something to ask you." He smiled a little more, reaching his hand into his pocket, "I've spent the past month, dreaming about you. The way you smile, the way you laugh. The way that your hands fit in mine, the way that you cover your mouth when you giggle."
"Mark I have been thinking about you too. I think that-" Jack spoke up softly.
"I'm not done," Mark rested his free hand on Jack's cheek, "Jack, I'm in love with you. I have been since we were 17. You've made my life so much better and I can never repay you for that. All I can do is take your hand, hold it tight, and promise you that no matter what we go through in our lives," He soothed, lowering his body to the floor, "I promise you. I will always be here for you despite how hard times can be. I know it's been a while, and I know I've fucked up a couple of times. But goddamn it Jack, I want to marry you." His hand pulls a small ring out of his pocket and holds it delicately in front of Jack.
"Mark.." Jack mutters softly, tears streaming down his face.
"Sean William McLoughlin. Will you marry me? Properly this time. We can face the world together. We can be us again. I promise I won't ever break your heart."
Jack frantically shook his head, "Yes, Mark; a thousand times yes."
Mark grinned before standing up and slowly sliding the ring onto Jack's finger. Wrapping his arms around his waist, picking him up into a kiss.
"We can fix this. We can be whole again. I promise you that, Jack. Forever and always."
"Forever and Always," Jack repeated lovingly.
