||3RD POV||
From the beginning, she knew something was off but she couldn't pinpoint what it was. Maybe it was peer pressure, sleepless nights, incidents, etc. Being the captain of a famous team isn't easy, many expect a lot from you. "You have an important responsibility!" One of her coaches always told her and it always went by the lines of; "You're expected to win! We accepted you for nothing! Accept that we helped you!" Royal Brand High, a school that only accepts elites; sports, academics, etc. She and others were chosen to represent the school through volleyball, the volleyball world loved them. But they never saw what happens behind the curtains, her coaches were merciless on them, especially her.
They never got sleep, always training, training, training... Never-ending training and exhaustion. She was excited at first when she found out that she could lead a team to a world of hope and excitement but now, she regrets it. People try to use them and throw them away like a piece of trash. She had a lover in her team and they were something people called 'Perfect Lovers.' Everything was fine. Winning matches or international competition became a norm for them. Their words were drilled into their heads and she despised it; "Win! Win! Or else you can't come back!" Greed started to breed under everyone, they wanted her position, they wanted everything she had. She would gladly give it to them but she knew she couldn't.
A few years ago, she and her teammates were playing at an international competition and they were in the finals. However, an incident had occurred. She remembers it like yesterday; her lover sabotaged her. She was in mid-air, waiting to slam the ball down onto the other side of the court but a heavyweight slammed into her shoulder, cracking and dislocating it, possibly puncturing a lung in the manner. Her body fell to the ground and she screamed in pain and agony, medics rushed to her and she was admitted to the hospital. She only found out the day after that her lover intended to injure her to get her position as captain and was immediately kicked from the team, luckily, they won the internationals for the third time.
She hoped that her future would be different from her past.
