Caleb
(Sorry for so heavily editing the chapter I published before, I really hated it and decided to go another way. Please read that before you continue on. Long chapter ahead!)
Since Finn had come back, I'd had barely gotten a minute to have him to himself.
The other two boys had barely left Finn's side, and it was nice and I understood that they'd missed him too, but I couldn't help getting a little agitated.
I was the one who'd missed him the most, after all, and I wasn't even getting a chance to make up for lost time. I was trying to just feel grateful that the younger boy was back at all, but it was hard and I honestly just wanted a few damn hours alone with him, and Matt and Danny were unintentionally making it near on impossible. It sucked really, and I was trying not to act like a brat but I felt pretty damn left out.
We were eating dinner now, take out pizza again, and even my plan to just simply sit next to Finn whilst they ate had gone to shit, Matt and Danny squashing up next to him and giving me a sofa to myself that I really wasn't grateful for.
Sure Finn had given me an apologetic glance, but he hadn't made a move to go and join me or anything, and I was trying not to but I was definitely acting like a sulky child, barely touching my pizza and not inputting at all into the conversation the other three boys were having.
Not that any one of them seemed to be aware of my presence anyway.
I stood up, earning only a tiny second of eye contact from Finn as I moved into the kitchen, pressing the peddle on the bin with my foot and sliding in my unwanted food before I set my plate down on the counter and just sighed, stood there listening to the muffled conversation through the walls with a frown on my lips.
It was just one of those moods where I felt like crap for no particular reason, and it sucked.
Finn coming home was supposed to be great, not make me feel like this, and right on cue said boy made his entrance.I turned my back and opened the fridge immediately, pretending to look at its contents as I tried to get rid of the frown on my face.
It wasn't easy but I managed it, grabbing a bottle of water to keep up with the pretense as I turned back to Finn, the younger boy just standing awkwardly and watching me.
"Is uh... is everything alright?"
I nodded, twisted the cap off of my water and took an unnecessary gulp, "I'm fine."
The younger boy looked like he was going to say something, but then he just stopped and nodded with his lips down turned.
"You weren't hungry?" he asked next, looking to my abandoned plate while I shrugged.
"Not really."
"Okay well, I'm gonna clean up," Finn sighed, clearly unhappy at the conversation as he started to load his own plate and mine into the dishwasher.
"Sorry I'm being like this," I finally mumbled, handing him another plate as I spoke, "It's just that..."
"Matt and Danny?"
Laughing quietly, I nodded and closed the dishwasher, taking the hand towel Finn passed off to me and wiping my hands.
"They're just being a little crazy," I shrugged, the blonde boy nodding.
"I know. I think they're just excited things are back to normal, or whatever."
"I get it," I nodded, "It'd be nice to get a word in edgeways though."
And then Finn was laughing and leaning himself against my chest, chin hooking over my shoulder and arms wrapping around me loosely.
"We can talk later," he promised, yawning with the effort, and adjusting his head to fit in the crook of my neck whilst the I just smiled to myself, because it didn't feel as awkward to be with Finn like this as much now.
It was almost natural, the way the younger boy's body seemed to fit to my own.
