"Good morning, Ma'am Sarah."

"Good morning Yaya Meling!" I heard her cheerfulness.

I made sure I smell good at hindi amoy-kusina, and washed my hands thoroughly. My daughter just woke up, and I should go give him a morning greet just like we used to.

She saw me, with eyes sparkling and mouth forming a big smile. "Good morning Ma!" She rushed to me and hugged me so tight.

Nakaligo, nakaayos at nakabihis-panlakad na ito and I never missed the chance to wonder. It's only seven in the morning, and she's going out already? Isn't it too early to go to school?

Doing the same, I parted the hug and pinched her nose. "Ang ganda naman ata ng gising natin? Naka-score ba kay crush, nak?" Panunukso ko dito. She just laughed.

"Eto talaga si Mama, di ba pwedeng masaya lang talaga?" She retorted. "Hmm, what's that good smell?" Dire-diretso itong naglakad papuntang kusina. "Oh my goodness, adobo!"

"Syempre naman, alam kong paborito mo yan." I smiled at my little angel. "Happy birthday, sweetheart!"

"Ma, hindi na ko baby." She frowned but she beamed again. "Thank you, Ma!" She hugged me again for the second time. "As much as I want all these dramas but I have to go, maaga ako since may presentation kami sa school."

I was disappointed. She was about to go upstairs but I spoke, "P-pero-"

She slowed down a bit at binalikan ako sa kusina. "I know, I know. Disappointed ka kasi pinagluto mo ako at di na naman ako kakain dito like I usually do." She sighed and uttered, "Fine. I'm going to make this baon session na naman to make you feel better. Okay lang ba Ma?"

With those words, I was relieved. "Syempre Ma, ipagmamalaki ko tong special adobo na niluto mo para sa'kin. Sarap sarap kaya neto! I would love to have this for dinner again." She giggled. "So, yep, I have to go na ha? Yaya got it all covered and it's in my bag na. Thank you for the effort you did even though you're busy with your patients. I love you, bye!" She gave me a peck on my lips.

Phew. Seems like it'll be the usual celebration again.

"Yaya, pakilagay nalang po sa Tupperware tong niluto ko and kindly put it on the ref, iinitin nalang yan mamaya. Also, itira mo si Ogie, baka kumain." Bilin ko kay Meling, hopelessly uttering the last sentence. She nodded in reply at agad na kumilos. I removed my apron and washed my hands again thoroughly. My head being shook, I went upstairs with the slowest pace I had when someone passed by me.

Gising na pala siya.

"Good morning," I greeted him with a smile. No response. "Uhm...nagluto ako ng adobo, you can eat it downstairs...if you want." Aya ko sa kanya.

Lumingon ito sa'kin, he looked at me deeply; full of anger and hatred. "Why should I eat your stupid adobo?" As always. Di pa ako nasanay? Hahaha.

"Stop acting like you're one hell of an amazing woman, because you aren't. Ilang beses ko bang ipapaalala sa'yo na wala kang lugar, at wala kang magiging lugar kailanman Regine." He throwed daggers in my eyes. I could feel the staggerness of my voice if ever I would gather up courage to tslk back at him, but I didn't. "Ano? Hindi ka makasagot? Tsk." He pushed me away and went downstairs.
