My husband left early because of some buisness reasons. But, well, he didn't left just like that, pinagluto pa niya ako ng agahan. How thoughtful! Napag-usapan nga pala namin kagabi ang tungkol sa palakang hipon na yun, and he was also well aware na ganun nga, capable siya of doing bad things and all.

Bumaba na ako ng salas na nakabihis na at nakaligo na rin. I saw Sarah munching down those scrambled eggs and baconella strips on the table. She was eating peacefully, not surprised that at the same time she was also reading her medical digests. Hay nako, batang to. She's taking up medical courses and it's her second year now.

"Sarah," tawag ko sa kanya habang kumukuha ng plato at ako'y kakain na rin. "Are things going pretty well?"

"Mm-mm. Not that smooth though. Ups and downs, you know Ma." she opened up. "But internalizing all I did, I guess I'm doing good."

"Sure ka ha? You can ask me for some help." I offered. Nagsimula na rin akong kumain.

"I will Ma." she smiled. "Ikaw po, kamusta ka?"

Kamusta ako? I've never been happy my whole life.

Ngayon ko lang ulit naramdaman na maging ganito ka saya. I never thought that this kind of atmosphere between me and my husband could possibly come in fifteen years time. Ang haba ng labinlimang taon, ano pa ba ang gusto niyong i-expect ko sa loob ng mga panahong yun?

"I'm...happy." I said, slowly but confidently. "Genuinely happy." I smiled at her.

"Hmm?" kinurot niya ang tagiliran ko at napa-aray naman ako sa ginawa niya. "Sabi ko na nga ba e, nagkakamabutihan na kayo ni Dada." she concluded.

"Imagine nak, darating pa pala tong araw na to." I said looking like daydreaming. Nasandal ko tong ulo ko sa mga kamay ko. "You know how I love your stepfather so much, and you understood why you're here." kinlaro ko lang sa kanya.

"Yes, yes. That I am not a curse, and I am a blessing. I am not a hindrance, but I am a chosen chance. I clearly understand and I have no issues with this family tree of ours." she reasoned out. "Ang swerte ko pa nga ma e. I have the best medical influencers in the Philippines as my parents, o diba."

"Now, you're boasting again." I frowned at the gesture of my child. Ganyan talaga yan. Medyo entitled. Hahahaha.

"Ay hindi pala maganda yun..." she shook her head. "Alam mo ma, minsan I feel so pressured. Ba't niyo kasi ginalingan jusko Ma, ang laki laki ng expectations nila sa'kin lagi."

I caressed her shoulder. "Should I say sorry for that, hon?" she nodded and we cracked up in laughter. "Just...don't mind them okay? Hindi ka namin pinepressure bilang mga magulang mo at mas lalong wala silang karapatang ipressure ka dahil hindi ka nila kaano-ano."

"Thanks, mom." he kissed my forehead. "I have to go, maaga ang klase namin today."

"Oh, this early?" I asked her. She was already preparing her stuffs in the sala kaya I raised up my voice a bit for her to hear me. "Ingat ka papuntang school!"

"I will Ma. Love you!" she flew a kiss away before getting into his Hyundai Eon. Binilhan ng tatay ng sasakyan kaya ayan, gora na gora pumasok at gumala. I trust my child, alam kong hindi siya gagawa ng kalokohan.
