DARYL DIXON HATED the smell of dead bodies. His stomach was twisting and turning every time he walked past one of them. He had been the first to retreat into his tent once they had all deemed the camp safe again. But safe wasn't and probably would never be apart of his vocabulary. Habitable was more like it, and even that was a stretch for the situation he was in. He wore one of his brother's bandana's over his mouth and nose to cover the stench, which helped some.

He emerged from his tent after sitting in silence for a few hours. He listened to the commotion outside, the people crying and the chatter of the other men while they tried to form a plan.

"Hey, Dixon, you got a second?" A voice called for him while he was making his way to grab water. He slowed to a stop, turning slightly to see Issac Walsh and Emily Smith approaching him. Daryl instantly squared his shoulders and narrowed his eyes, making himself look harder and stronger than he is. Emily looked up at him with wide, red-rimmed eyes before bowing her head.

He had heard her mother's name while Rick and Shane had been talking about who had died in the attack.

"Depends." He mutters.

"Uh... Madeline is gone." Issac says after a moment, wringing his hands together uncomfortably.

"What do you mean she's gone?" Daryl asked, confused. His eyes flickered between the two. An unwanted and unknown emotion flowed throughout him, causing him to start gnawing on his thumbnail, a nervous habit he's had forever.

"She wasn't apart of the headcount we did, but she's also not part of the body count," Issac muttered out, his entire body radiating anger. Daryl didn't know Issac but he could see that just the mere thought of his sister being lost was almost unfathomable.

"I saw her run into the forest, and Sophia backs me up on it," Emily added. "Now, we know that you two aren't close or anything, but she's my friend. She's his sister. I'm sorry for what happened to your brother-"

"Don't speak as if you knew him. No one knew Merle well enough to be sorry." Daryl spat out. He was sick of all these women around camp sending him looks of pity. Sure, Daryl had been torn up over his brother's disappearance but they didn't even get along all that much. "Now get to the point, women!"

"The point is: you're a hunter. A tracker. I know you don't know her from Adam-"

"Why are you'll trying to convince me? Just show me where she went in and I'll bring her back." Daryl rolled his eyes. "Jesus, don't get your panties in a twist." Issac's face lit up in relief and he nodded, turning around swiftly and leading him to where Madeline had last been seen.
