𝐆𝐎𝐃'𝐒 𝐂𝐎𝐔𝐍𝐓𝐑𝐘 — 𝐃𝐀𝐑𝐘𝐋 𝐃𝐈𝐗𝐎𝐍
❝ hangovers and hand grenades ❞THE NEXT MORNING she felt refreshed. For the first time since the outbreak, she had a decent night's sleep. Her muscles didn't feel as tight, and her mind felt less clouded.
As she walked into the dining area, the few people that sat around the table looked up. It was confusing to some how Madeline Walsh, who was always usually seen accompanied by one — if not both — of her brothers, was now walking beside Daryl Dixon. It was even more confusing that they weren't bickering or glaring like usual, and as they joined the rest of the group at the table, they both smirked at the groans that left the other's mouths. She took her place across from Issac, who held Andrea's hand tightly. They seemed the least hungover at the table, excluding her of course. Daryl sat beside her with a huff, casting his eyes up to the ceiling.
"Are you hungover?" Carl smirked up at her, a mischievous glint in his eyes.
"As a matter-a-fact, I am not." She ruffled his eyes before stealing a gulp from his orange juice. He turned swiftly to his mother who sat beside him, eyebrows pulled together in amazement.
"Mama, you were right!" He beamed.
"Moms have that annoying habit." Madeline smiled, causing Lori to look up from her breakfast with a soft smile. They locked eyes, and Madeline could see the silent plea in them. The same one that was there last night, in the bathroom, when she made the youngest Walsh promise not to speak a word of what happened to her husband. But there was also a look of thankfulness and love for her family there, which made Madeline's silence worth it.
T-Dog, followed by Emily, came in from the small kitchen with a pan full of eggs, powered but he claimed to make them good, and began to distribute them. She politely declined, offering the excuse that eating in the morning makes her nauseous. She held the mug of a drink that sort of resembled coffee that Dale had delivered closer to her chilled body, and looked over her shoulder. Daryl was extremely hungover, and she could tell that the thought of eating eggs made his stomach turn. She silently buttered a slice of toast before sliding it onto his plate. He grunted in response.
"Do we got any Ibuprofen? All this groaning is making my head hurt." She asked the table, smiling happily when Emily passed some down. She took some before also sliding it to the man beside her.
"Hey." Came the voice belonging to the last person she wanted to see right now. She notice the way Carl lit up or the way Lori tensed up.
"Hey," Rick replied, happy to see his best friend up and about. "Feel as bad as I do?" He questioned.
"Worse." Shane answered simply. She scoffed into her mug.
