Back on the highway, things were tense. Shane had indeed kept everyone busy, but it didn't help ease what hung in the air. They were scared and on edge, desperately hoping for Sophia to come back while also wanting answers for the reasoning behind the herd.

"Why aren't we all out there looking? Why are we moving cars?" Carol finally asked Dale, placing her hands on her hips. Her eyes were red from crying for her daughter. Madeline wiped her hands on her pants, dirty from helping the men clear the way.

"We have to clear enough room so I can get the RV through," Dale told Carol, "now that we have the fuel we can double back to a bypass that Glenn flagged on the map."

"Going back's going to be easier than trying to get through this mess," Shane added, gesturing to the traffic snarl before them.

"We're not going anywhere till my daughter gets back," Carol said, her voice weak and filled with grief.

"That goes without saying," Madeline assured her, placing her hand on her shoulder briefly before leaning up against the RV. "Rick and Daryl, they're on it, okay? You just gotta give 'em time." The mother nodded softly.

"Can't be soon enough for me. I'm still freaked out from that herd that passed us by, or whatever you'd call it." Andrea finally joined the group, tossing Glenn a water bottle.

"Yeah, what was that?" Issac asked from beside his... friend? She honestly didn't know. "All of them just marching along like that."

"A herd... that sounds about right." Shane agreed. "We've seen it. It's like the night camp got attacked, some wandering pack." Her brother explained.

"Okay," Madeline interrupted. "Come on, people, we still got a lot to do. Once the men and Sophia get back we gotta hightail it outta here." The rest of the group nodded, filtering back to work. She took a few steps forward before turning slightly and called out: "hey Dale, where's T?"

"He's in the bedroom, resting." Madeline nodded her thanks, jumping up into the camper and walking towards the back room. She pushed open the door, her eyes landing on a sweaty, bleeding mess. She scoffed, placing her hands on her hips.

"We got a doctor in camp, someone who knows how to fix that wound, and yet you are doing a back-alley hack job in the back of a dirty RV." Madeline bit back a laugh, trying hard to seem upset. T looked up from where he laid, surrounded by bandages.
