Oh my god, Oh my god. YOU IDIOT, what did I just say?!"I-I mean for me it's uh the uh my parents and the s-staff and um the kids," I said foolishly.
I should get an award for the biggest fool of all time. I didn't dare look at him and just scratched the side of my forehead. This was the most awkward situation. We were just talking about work, and I asked his thoughts about love out of nowhere!
"For me, It's my daughter and my parents." He said quite seriously.
I was strangely really touched by his words- it felt like a cold breeze to my soul, but my body felt warm. My heart was pounding so oddly.
I wanted to get out of the car before I did something regret- like caressing his face.
"T-That's so sweet," I said before he finally parked his car.
"Well, I'm going to get going," I said as I opened the door immediately to get to my office.
I went inside the hospital to the elevator, pressing the floor 7 button continuingly until the door closed. When I reached up I went inside my office taking off my handbag and coat quickly and then loosening my hijab.
I felt so odd, I would get my thoughts together- if knew what was going on. What was this feeling?
I sat on my desk and called Zahra.
"Hello?"
"Hello? Zahra?"
"What's up, are you back?"
"Yes, I'm in my office. Are you free?"
"I'm coming back from my rounds. Do you want me to come to your office? Are you okay?"
"I'm okay, just come. Allah Hafiz." I said as I hung up.
Very soon my office door opened, to reveal my best friend.
"What happened to you?" She said as she looked at me with my loose hijab and lost expression.
"I don't know Zahra, I feel so weird around him and it doesn't seem to go away, I'm such an idiot. You don't want to know what I did. I wanted to have a conversation with him but instead, I asked him a really weird question."
Zahra took a seat and smiled as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"Oh no, what'd you do?"
"I asked him 'what is love to you' out of nowhere. He probably thinks of me as a goon now."
I put my head in my hands.
Zahra laughed out loud.
"Yeah, that is undoubtedly weird. I'm sorry." She said as she laughed.
I glared at her.
"So how'd he answer?"
I smiled remembering what he said.
"He said 'for me, it's my daughter and my parents.' and that's when the weird feelings came in. It was like a cool breeze inside my body, but my head felt warm. My heart was hammering and I had this overpowering feeling to just...touch him."
"Oh my god," Zahra said.
"What?"
"Darling, I think it's becoming more than a crush. I felt like that with Omar, and that's when I knew I was in love. His face brought me such a peaceful feeling, and all I wanted was to be with him all the time."
"Love?, already?," I said.
"Not quite, but you're falling deeper."
"Oh no I've created such a bad impression of myself and yet I'm falling for him more."
