six months later

"Humza you're sick! Lay down I will go pick up Haniah it's fine." I pushed Humza back to the bed.

"What about-"

"Jacob is covering for me at the clinic, don't worry about it."

"Ok, but-"

"Humza," I warned.

He smiled at me, as I put the duvet over him.

"Let me go get you some Ibuprofen," I said turning around.

I felt a grip at my wrist and suddenly I was pulled on top of him, as he looked at me tenderly.

"Stop it," I whispered.

"You're so gorgeous."

"And you're so hot," I said.

"If you know what I mean," I added.

"Shut up." He laughed.

"Don't laugh! you're vibrating it's weird!" I chuckled, laying on his chest.

"HAHAHA" He fake laughed in a deeper voice as he hugged me tighter.

I hoisted myself up and wrapped my arms around his neck, as I looked at him- with his red nose and rumpled hair.

"Don't kiss me, you'll get sick." He said.

Right, Flu season was here and with all the infected at the clinic I was trying to save myself from everyone and everything even remotely connected to the sickness- Humza not counting. I mean it's him.

"Wasn't going to." I stuck my tongue at him, messing his hair up more before getting up.

He grabbed my arm before I could leave once again as I looked at him impatiently.

"Well, now I want one." He said.

"I'll get sick, so no. Try to sleep okay?" I said caressing his cheek and kissing his forehead.

He groaned as he pulled the comforter over his face, and I chuckled at him.

Haniah was currently at my parent's house, as Humza was sick and I had to go to work. Usually, Haniah would stay home but Ammi and Abbu and had gone for Umrah.

The clinic was going very well, we launched a program to help the uninsured patient the reviews skyrocketed and we began getting a lot of funds to help the clinic going. All of us quit our jobs at Lakeside, and that allowed Humza and I to spend a lot of time with Haniah.

However, Haniah hadn't completely adapted to the idea of me as her mother. She began speaking, and she spoke quite well for her age of 1. Her first words were 'Baba' when she saw Humza come back from work.

She hadn't referred to me as anything yet, and honestly, it bummed me out a lot. Despite that, I loved Haniah and she grew more and more lovable each day. My phone was filled with videos and pictures of her, and I spent every free minute with her. She always watched me intently whenever I did my makeup, or when I would sit her down as I cleaned or cooked- it was the most precious thing on earth.

I had brought myself to think that even if Haniah never considered me as her mother, I would love her just as much if not more, even though that thought stung a bit.

I knocked on the big white door, as I waited for a response.

"Asalam Alaikum!"

The door opened, with Bhabi holding my sweet nephew- Saeed.

"Hello!" I cooed at him.

I took Saeed into my arms as I kissed him on his soft chubby cheeks. Saeed looked very much like Huzaifah, but his personality was much like Bhabi's. He stayed quiet a lot and played with his toys on his own, but there was no kid that wouldn't laugh by me.
