Today was Friday, and I was about to leave my shift- however before I left I was going to ask Dr. Khan if I could spend tomorrow with Haniah. I was thrilled about this, and looking forward to it since Haniah did seem to enjoy my presence the few times we met.

I was at Dr. Khan's office as I got ready to knock on the door.

I hope he's in there, what will I do if he isn't?

"Come In!" I heard

I stepped inside the office to be met with a very odd situation. Mariam- Adeel's elder sister sitting in front of Dr. Khan.

"Mariam?" I asked smiling at her.

"What are you doing here?, Adeel's surgery is on Monday," I said politely

"Yeah I know, I just had to talk to Dr. Khan about some personal matters. It's lovely to see you here as well, at this hour," she said feeling a little bitter to me.

At this time? I work here, and "personal matters?" I thought.

Pushing away from the attitude that was coming in my mind from my exhaustion I pursed my lips and apologize.

"Oh I'm sorry for interrupting, I'll go," I said awkwardly feeling my face turn red and hot.

Mariam looked at Dr. Khan, not making any eye contact with me- which I found disrespectful.

I awkwardly turned around to leave.

"Dr. Siddiqui, stay." Dr. Khan spoke.

I turned back around instantly, looking at the two. Mariam clenched her jaw and got up slamming the door shut on her way out.

I spaced out for a quick second, not being able to tell what the situation was.

"Do you know her?" I asked.

"I'll tell you some other time." He said rubbing his forehead looking very disturbed.

I nodded at him and took a seat.

"I wanted to ask you, if- I could, um, maybe, um" I stammered.

"What is it?" He said looking straight at me, his gaze not easing my anxiousness whatsoever.

"If I could spend some time with Haniah tomorrow?" I said in one breath, clenching my fingers together.

He broke into a small smile and dropped his pen easing into his chair.

"Of course, I would like that." He said.

I bit my lip my smile widening by the second, as I mentally jumped up and down.

"Thank you," I said still grinning.

"Do you feel better?" He asked.

"Huh?, Oh yeah!, I feel much better today wasn't frantic."

"Good,"

"Well them, umm, I'm going to go," I said becoming nervous under his stare.

"Okay, Asalam Alaikum." He said.

"Asalam Alaikum," I said hurriedly getting up to leave.

I walked out of the office, and put my hand on my chest smiling to myself as I felt my racing heart.

It was Saturday morning and I was ready for today. I woke up at 9 rather than 12, also took a shower, wore a simple marroon abaya with a white hijab.

I wanted today to go well, I prayed Tahajud and made multiple dua's asking for good outcomes.

I was eating my cereal on the kitchen island, as Bhai came downstairs.
