It was Saturday, and I had been up for quite a while last night just thinking of how Dr. Khan and his mother were coming over today.

I was helping Ammi with the lunch she had prepared for today, and every time I thought of him coming over my heart would just jump.

"Everything's done now, go get ready once you're done," Ammi said.

"Alright," I said, and I washed the last of the dishes.

I chose a long white Pakistani dress, with light golden edging- and wore the dupatta as a hijab. My makeup was simple as usual.

Coming back downstairs, I lit up a candle in the middle of the living room. Bhabi and I had cleaned up our place the night before.

A while later, the anticipated moment had arrived when the ring of the doorbell chimed through the walls of our home.

"Huda, get the door!" Ammi yelled from the kitchen.

I looked at Bhabi, as she smiled at me.

I anxiously walked over to the door and unlocked it, revealing a lady with a hijab and black abaya.

"Asalam Walikum!" I said smiling at her moving to the side to let her in.

She looked like a middle-aged woman, with fair skin and rosy cheeks.

Much like her son, I thought.

"Walikum Asalam beta," She said hugging me.

"Take a seat, it must be cold outside," I said.

"Oh yes, very freezing." She said, taking off her abaya.

"Shaheen!" I heard my mother say cheerfully,

"Asma!" Aunty said as they both pulled each other in for a hug.

I smiled at both of them and saw my brother coming down the stairs, fixing his watch.

The security system sounded indicating someone had come in.

I turned around and saw him, wearing white salwar-kameez, with Haniah in his arms.

I couldn't help but stare, as the view of him in the traditional outfit did wonders to my heart. Haniah looked really charming in her creme colored dress, she was looking around confusedly in the most adorable manner.

"Asalam Walikum!" Huzaifah's voice broke my daze.

I turned around and left for the dining area where my mother was. My face felt hot and my mind was on a continuous loop of the image of him. I took a seat next to Bhabi in front of the two elder ladies.

"Oh Mashallah, Mahallah Congratulations," Aunty said to Bhabi smiling.

I supposed it was about her pregnancy.

"What about you Huda? how are you?" She asked me.

"Oh, Alhumdulilah, mostly work," I said.

"Oh really? where do you work?"

"Lakeside Hospital, I'm a pediatrician."

"Humza works there too!" She added,

Yeah, I would know..

"Yeah, Dr. Khan is our lead," I said.

I looked down, and Bhabi nudged me with her elbow.

"Let's serve the food," Ammi said to us.

Bhabi and I got up and went to the kitchen.

I rolled my eyes at her, smiling.

I took the plates, glasses, and napkins on a tray and headed to the dining room to set the food on the table.
