Chapter Fourteen | I Thought I Knew You...
The mystery Grounder was either off his game or the Sky Kids had gotten better at sneaking. Aurora hoped it was them, being sneaky meant they had a chance. Aurora felt something off about this specific Grounder. To be honest there was just something off about this whole situation, starting with the false acid fog alert and ending with this single Grounder.
He had sun kissed skin, something Aurora was jealous of. His eyes were brown and there was a light scruff on his face, something you could only see with the right lighting. He was bald, with strong muscles and a sharp jawline. If he wasn't their enemy Aurora would have thought he was attractive.
As she watched him closely she realized something. Scratch the whole enemy thing, this man was beyond attractive. Aurora would have let him kill her from how hot he was. This man gave her a new appreciation for the Grounders. If this is what they looked like from growing up on Earth then she was okay staying here. She didn't care about all the dangers. It was worth it.
Aurora couldn't get the fact that this man had the horn on his waist. She was positive now that it was the same horn that blew earlier. It was the same horn that saved all of their lives. The only question now was why? Why save the kids who fell from the sky? Why go against his own people?
Aurora frowned as she watched the Grounder again. They had been following him for almost a mile now and Aurora didn't see any signs of the Grounder camp and if this Grounder wasn't going there then where was he going?
"Something's off about this." Aurora mumbled.
Bellamy sent her a sideways glance, mistaking her confusion for fear. "I won't let him hurt you."
"That's not what I mean, Bell." Aurora said irritated. Bellamy was too focused on his sister to see anything else. Aurora understood it, she just wished Bellamy was being more rational. Bellamy gave her another look, stopping as he stared at her. Finn and Jasper paused too, sharing a look as they stayed behind.
Bellamy looked angry, impatient. "Then what do you mean?"
Aurora didn't know if he had meant for the question to come out so harsh so she just brushed away her own snappy reply. "I mean... This Grounder isn't looking for us. He didn't even follow the rest of them back to camp and he has a foghorn on his waist."
Bellamy narrowed his eyes. "So?"
"So?" Aurora echoed in disbelief. "He literally just saved our lives!"
"He's a Grounder." Bellamy growled, face darkening. He didn't seem to like what she was saying but just because this man was a Grounder, didn't mean that he was like his people. Aurora could see blood-lust in Bellamy's usually calm eyes ever since they spotted him and Aurora didn't like it one bit.
"I know." Aurora's tone had hardened, her eyes displaying the same anger as Bellamy.
"We don't have time for this, Aurora." Bellamy barked, eyeing the slowly fading Grounder. "I need to find Octavia."
Aurora grabbed his forearm hard when he went to turn. Bellamy paused, pursing his lips as he brought his gaze back to Aurora. The air was slowly getting tense, Jasper and Finn uncomfortable as they watched the pair with bated breath. Alone, Bellamy and Aurora could be vicious but together... facing each other... Something was bound to spin out of control.
"I understand that and I'm with you, 100%..." Aurora licked her lips, hold remaining on Bellamy's arm. "But I'm not letting you kill him for no reason."
Bellamy's eyes flashed with rage, the boy ripping his arm from her grasp. His face was cold as he opened his mouth to scream before he stopped. He pursed his lips as he stared down at Aurora, changing what he was originally going to say. When he did speak, his voice was low. "Let me? You won't stop me."
