Chapter Thirty-Five | Finish It.

It's been only an hour and everything had gone to hell.

Raven was slowly bleeding out. Their ammo was at an all time low. And the fucking Grounder's were seconds away from breaking their defenses. People were panicking and screaming and wasting even more ammo. The fight that Bellamy had given the camp was gone and people were fleeing. They hadn't been prepared to die, not really.

A blood curdling scream tore through the air, Aurora's heart beating increasing as she scanned the chaos around her with wide eyes. She never imagined this happening. She didn't think it would ever get this far... but war was war and she should've never doubted it.

The walkie talkie on Bellamy's hip filled with static that was barely heard over the screams. Bellamy was breathing hard as he clutched Aurora's small wrist, avoiding the injury the girl had to her hand.

Finally, a voice came through the radio. "Fall back! Get back here!"

The amount of terror in that man's voice did nothing to help the bubbling emotions inside everyone. The terror seemed to spread like a disease, moving on to person from person until there was no one left.

"Bellamy." Aurora's voice was small as growls from the Grounder's filled the air. They were still moving closer and if Bellamy and Aurora didn't get back to the foxholes they were dead.

Bellamy turned to stare at Aurora. He stared into her eyes with such an intensity that the world seemed to quiet around them. The panic, the screaming, the fighting... it just all seemed to begin to fade. Then Bellamy saw the fear in her gaze, the panic... The spell broke and he swallowed hard.

"Bellamy! Aaah!"

Bellamy snapped at the sound of his name. His stomach dropped as another similar scream broke out. He swallowed the pain and washed any emotion from his face before turning back to Aurora.

She was slowly clenching and unclenching her injured hand causing Bellamy to frown. He knew the action must of hurt. Bellamy gently squeezed her wrist gaining her attention. He frowned at her. "Stop that."

Aurora frowned too, glancing down at her hand. It was bleeding some from her clenching but overall okay. She hadn't even realized she was doing it. "Sorry, nervous tick."

Bellamy sighed as more scream erupted. It was beginning to suffocate him.

"We need to get back to camp before we're killed." Aurora said, eyes snapping around them anxiously. She was scared and worried and for all good reasons.

"Your right." Bellamy gritted out, hating himself for even thinking of abandoning his people. He got them into this war. He was their leader, they were depending on him.

And now they were dying.

Bellamy then met Aurora's eyes and all those thoughts vanished. He wanted to help his people, save them but when he looked at Aurora he realized he wanted to save her. He realized that all he really wanted this whole time was for Aurora and Octavia to live. He wanted them to survive... The people he had grown close to since landing here. The more he thought about it, the more he realized he cared about a lot of people down here.

He cared about Clarke and her snarky comments and all-work-no-play attitude. He cared about even Japer and Monty, two of the most smart yet idiotic people he knew. He cared about Raven, the fierce broken hearted girl. Even Finn... who only seemed to do wrong to the girl he loved. He cared for Finn because he knew, despite everything that Aurora still cared.

And he would do just about anything for the girl who life always seemed to be against.

That thought shattered when they began to run.
