(Y/n's pov)
I'd be lying if I wasn't jealous of everyone today, it was family day and everybody would be here laughing and smiling with their loved ones but for someone like me that was nothing but a stale memory. My parents died after an unfortunate incident with the Peacock and Butterfly miraculous when I was little so I've always been alone, Ginn was my only family but I knew soon I'd leave him alone because of the curse inflicted on his miraculous. I watched the other groups set up in the courtyard from the rooftop and it honestly looked fun. Everyone was having fun messing around and being together while I just stayed jealous and alone."Why don't you go down there little one?", Ginn asked nuzzling his cheek against mine.
"I don't want to get attached to people, not when I know I'll have to leave them soon. Everything reminds me of my parents especially my mom.", I sighed remembering my mother as she used her miraculous one last time to save me.
Ginn frowned a bit but smiled realizing that you had been spotted. Marinette noticed me alone with my hood raised up and decided to get my attention, she ran over to Nino and whispered into his ear for something and next thing I knew he was calling out my name.
"Mic check one two! (Y/n), (y/n)? Please report to the courtyard floor (Y/n)!", Nino chuckled on the mic.
I could feel my cheeks flare up in embarrassment but decided I'd might as well go down there, everyone freaked watching me jump-off the roof. While people screamed I pretty much grabbed onto the railings to slow down my fall until eventually I was safe on the ground. Marinette stared at me with a sheepish look on her face, guess she forgot I don't like taking the stairs. She took a deep breath and composed herself before taking my hand in hers and smiling at me, "I know you don't have a group for the festival since you were out earlier this week so how about you join me and my friends. We'd love to have you along.", She cheered motioning to her huge group of partners for their stand.
My emotionless face broke into a smile and soon enough I was roped into helping out set up the music stage for the performances. Since I liked jumping high places getting the decorations hung up was far easier than it would have been without me and for the first time in a while I felt happy. I know Marinette probably called me out of pity but I was truly enjoying myself and I'm glad I came down here. Me and Alya hit it off rather easily, she found me intriguing and I absolutely loved her stories and speculations on hero identities.
"So (y/n) are your folks coming down for the festival?", Alya asked pounding in the last mail for the banner.
"Mnn no...not like they can.", I admitted quietly whimpering the last part.
Alya noticed my change in attitude and quickly came down off the ladder, she gave my shoulder a soft squeeze and looked into my glossy (e/c) hues. I'm pretty sure she could tell why when I smiled sadly at her.
"Girl don't tell me that when you go home there's no one there waiting for you?", Alya whispered trying not to draw unnecessary attention.
"I mean m-my dog's there...but my parents died when I was little and to avoid Foster care I started working to provide for myself. If I stay here it'll only remind me of how much I wish they were here.", I chuckled trying my best to hold in the tears that were ready to fall.
Alya hugged me close before letting me go and told me to head on home, she didn't like seeing me upset I suppose. I walked out of the courtyard quietly only noticed by Marinette but Alya kept her from calling out to me. I didn't want to cry in front of them but once I was out of their sight tears started flooding from my eyes. I missed my parents so much, I missed being with them and smiling, now I'm all alone and have to face death all by myself! I don't want to get attached to people because I don't want them to feel this same pain if I leave...but I also don't wanna be alone.
(Narrator's pov)
"Welcome one and all to our annual Family Day! Our students have worked diligently to ensure the most fun for each and every one of us. Now let the festival begin!", Principal Damocles cheered.Soon music was blasting and laughter filled the school, everyone was smiling and enjoying themselves even Gabriel Agreste made an appearance much to his Son's delight. Alya couldn't keep Marinette in the dark about what you told her earlier and that thought of you distracted her the whole time. While everyone else was here enjoying themselves you were at home alone with nobody to be with. Marinette noticed Luka from afar, he seemed a bit distraught about something.
"Hey Mari have you seen (Y/n)? I haven't found her anywhere and I kinda wanted to meet her folks.", Luka sighed still looking around for you.
"She's not coming Luka. She said being here would hurt her.", Marinette whimpered looking at the gate for you as if awaiting your arrival.
Luka didn't seem very fond of her reply and continued to egg his blue haired friend on for an explanation. When Mari finished telling him everything she found out Luka's once happy mood changed to something bitter and sad. He wanted you to be here and see you smiling as he preformed for everyone. Yet at the same time he understood that you didn't want to feel left out while everyone else was with their loved ones.
"Luka it's showtime.", Rose cheered almost immediately noticing Luka's change in mood.
Luka smiled trying to hide his true feelings, Mari sighed and followed along to watch the performance.
"Marinette, why don't you record the performance for (Y/n) that way she doesn't miss out on it.", Tiki whispered from her hiding space in her bag.
Marinette smiled and pulled out her phone to send it to you, Kitty Sections song blasted through the corridors riling everyone up into a roar. Everyone was smiling to the music, everyone was happy, everyone was a family. While Marinette tried not to dance to the music she recorded the show for you teasingly focusing on Luka to make him smile. The night was young and the festival had only just began as a certain Wolf Hero watched the school from the rooftops.
"Rock on Kitty Section.", You smiled crying through your mask as a feeling of a soft embrace touched your heart.
Even if you were the only person of your family alive, today you felt whole as if they were here watching you smile at Luka. They were here supporting you even in death.
