(Narrator's pov) The wind danced through Marinette's midnight blue hair as her sea blue hues stared out over the sleeping city of Paris. She found herself unable to sleep due to one person being on her mind, she was more worried for Howl than ever before. Marinette kept her promise as Ladybug to give Luka his miraculous permanently after he confessed everything he had known about Howl.
"To think that Luka's actually seen Howl's deterioration, he's seen what her miraculous is doing to her body.", Marinette trembled.
"Yes...and with every vivid detail. I can practically see it.", Tiki whimpered.
Marinette could hear her friend's voice in her head as the story of Howl replayed over and over again in her head.
~Flashback to last night~ "I met Howl on the riverbank one day when a group of thugs started to harass me and attempted to throw my guitar in the water. She saved it and with a calm gentle voice she sang away all the bad energy surrounding us.", Luka chuckled staring out over the water.
Ladybug listened carefully to every detail hoping to find a clue to Howl's identity.
"I met her again as Viperion where she explained that she was dying and that she probably wouldn't make it to the end of the year. It worries me, even though she's rude and sucks at socializing with others she's a good person, she'd let herself get hurt before an innocent bystander. Then there was the day I saw it, her gloves got burned off by a villain that she was protecting Nathaniel from and I saw her arm. It was charcoal black and seemed like a pile of ash ready to drift away in the wind, then long bone like claws emerged from her nails and she destroyed the Akuma as a hunger took over her body.", Luka admitted his painted nails digging into the wood of the boat as he attempted to hold back his fear, "I could only watch in horror as she became more like a wild animal then a person. Like she was becoming a rabid wolf that knew it was going to die soon and yet still desperate and longing to live."
"So you've never seen her face? You don't know what she looks like or who she is?", Ladybug asked hoping for an answer.
Luka glared at her and sighed, 'No I don't but I know that her deterioration is permanent on her body. I saw her mid transformation and the black markings were splotched over her skin like some kind of plague but I couldn't make out her face."
The two teens stayed silent for a bit but then Luka broke out into tears. He sobbed silently and Ladybug stared at him in pity.
"I know Luka, she's a great hero with a pure heart but we have to accept that she may die soon."
"I know...b-but the more I talk about her the more useless I feel. I can't do anything to help save her and in the end she could be one of my classmates or someone I love! What am I supposed to do? I can't even help find out who she is.", Luka yelled hot tears fallint down his tanned face, "Everytime I see her she reminds me of (Y/n)'s mom, (Y/n) always told me stories of how hot headed and protective her mom was. Howl just wants to make things right but she's going to suffer more without help."
"I see...so she really is trying to take on the weight of the world on her own."
"Yeah. Yeah she is." ~~Flashback ends~~~~~~~~
"Tikki...she's gonna die. I can't do anything to save her...she's gonna die all alone with no one by her side since she refuses to let us help.", Marinette choked finally letting her heart's tears fall from her eyes.
The small red Kwami held her master's cheek to comfort her but tears fell from her tiny eyes as well. Marinette's sobs seemed to echo over Paris and one special person could hear it. Marinette stared up at the Eiffle tower as a voice sang out over the night. She could hear it like it was a concert hall with the band playing at full blast while she was the only spectator. A simple vocalization, a simple howl to the moon from a friend. Marinette's tears didn't stop...but that call was enough to motivate her. A smile washed over her face as her heart beat against her ribcage. She'd find a way to save Howl and bring her back home to her family. Everything would be okay once Howl was reminded just what family was.
"Tikki I can't save everyone and I know that but I'm gonna save her.", Marinette smiled, "You hear me Howl, I will save you!"
The little Kwami smiled at her master and repeated the same phrase to the sky even if there was no response. Marinette returned to her room after her cry and laid down to finally rest even if her mind was flooded with thoughts.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir will save her, she's dear to us both so we won't chance losing her so easily.", Mari hummed.
"If there's a Ladybug in history that can heal her it's gonna be us. We got this Marinette together as a team."
"Yes Tikki, together we can save Paris and Howl."
