I gathered my composure as they brought my next patient in. He sat down at the table and to my surprise, he began to speak to me. He told me about what he had done and that he was sorry for it. I thought that it was a good sign and started to give him advice on how to straighten his life out.
The light in the room began to flicker and the temperature began to drop. After a few seconds, the light stopped flickering but I knew something was different. I looked into the man's eyes and it was like I was in the room with someone different entirely.
