Before I left in the morning I was on my way to see the patient when I heard the code blue. I ran down the hall and my heart sank when I figured out that it was my patient. I tried desperately to save him but it was out of my hands. After the autopsy, it was confirmed that he had died of a massive heart attack.
I knew there was more to it than that but there was no way they were going to believe me. I went home grieving knowing how scared the patient had been feeling like there was more I could have done.
