The dinner wasn't as awkward as I thought it would be.

Mel and Tyler's dad lee, it was still weird calling my 'ex' boyfriend parents that because they left him at a young age.

but considering Tyler was supposed to be my 'friend' now, I guess that gave me some sort of normalcy

were very familiar with The Dolans.

They asked about Cameron Dolan, whom I remembered was Ethan and grayson's older sister, away at the University of Colorado Boulder.

I could tell immediately that Cameron was the favourite child.

Whenever Mel asked about The twins activities, or Lee asked where they planned to go for college, there parents would somehow find a way to bring Cameron back up.

comparing their younger sons to their eldest daughter.

I could tell that Grayson was hiding his annoyance, stabbing at his food aggressively with his fork.

unbeknownst to those at the table except me.

It didn't bother Ethan, At some points he would throw and mumble or roll his eyes. But he was use to it

I met his gaze across the table.

He looked ready to shoot himself as his parents rambled on and on about Cameron.

I looked to my left where Tyler sat.

He looked bored out of his mind, balancing his spoon on the side of his plate, and then flinching when it clattered onto his plate before trying again.

Somehow, the subject got on smoking.

"Do you smoke, Grayson?" Lee asked with a light smile.

"Oh, none of them smoke," Lisa said immediately, smiling over at her sons.

I watched as Grayson grabbed his glass of ice water and took a large gulp.

It was like he was forcing himself not to throw a tantrum in front of the table.

"Neither does Cameron," Sean continued.

"She hates drugs. You know, while she was at School, he started a fundraiser to raise awareness for—"

"Can you excuse me?" Grayson asked politely, interrupting his mom and looking over at Tyler's parents.

Mel nodded.

"Sure, honey," she said, a bit startled.

"Do you need to use the bathroom or—"

"I just need to step outside for a second," He said, dizzily pushing back in his seat and standing up.

"I'll be right back." I watched him walk across the room and out the side door.

Mel looked worriedly at Grayson's parents.

"Is he okay?"

Lisa nodded, taking a nervous sip of water.

"He's okay. School has him stressed lately. I keep telling him to join the soccer team again. I think that would give him the outlet he needs."

"He's a good kid," Sean spoke up.

"But he works himself up. It's nothing to get alarmed over, though. He's fine."

Ethan put his hands over his face dragging them down knowing damn well what he was mad about.

"Im going to Jakes now" Brad whined next to me.
