I had never been more excited to go to school in my life.

I woke up two minutes before my alarm went off and basically flew out of bed. Immediately it was freezing.

I bounced around my room, sifting through the mess of clothes on the ground, trying to find something clean. I shimmied into a pair of jeans that pretty much went all the way up to my belly-button.

Great, mom jeans.

I forgot where slash when I was.

I was pretty sure even 1999 definitely had low-rise jeans, but I apparently didn't own.

I opted for a girly-looking baby blue top. Gotta keep 'em guessing.

Plus, I had noticed while at the school, grunge was dead.

It was too late into the 90s for that. I barely had time to run a comb through my hair and brush my teeth when I heard Tyler honk his horn outside.

"What did you do, mug Britney Spears?" he asked, raising his eyebrows when I opened the car door and got in. I rolled my eyes, pulling the overhead mirror down to apply a little lipgloss.

"What happened to Kurt Cobain?"

"Shut up," I grumbled. "I just thought I'd go with something different today."

If you thought I was dressing up for Grayson, girl you couldn't be more wrong.

Okay, maybe a tiny bit.

But it was mainly for a different purpose.

A mission, I guess. Strategy. I planned on sitting with Tyler's friends at lunch that day. When I'd asked him about it earlier that morning, he'd suggested I dress

"a little not like you," as he'd put it.

My reason? I wanted to see first-hand how they treated the outcasts.

If I could actually witness some of the things they did to Ethan and Grayson, maybe I'd have a better way of putting an end to it.

But first I'd need allies on the inside, and that meant becoming cool with Sammy and her clique.

When Tyler pulled into his usual parking spot, I noticed Travis and Sarah get out of a car next to us.

Tyler and Travis fist-bumped and met up with a group of other athletes, some in white baseball caps, including Tyler.

"Hey, girl," Sarah smiled, grabbing her backpack from the trunk and then locking the car behind her.

"You look cute."

"Thanks," I replied, trying to get my hair out of my lipgloss.

"It's not too much is it?"

She shook her head.

"You're gonna have half the guys at School looking at you," she laughed.

I frowned.

"Okay, well if that's the case, I'll go hide in the car for the day," I said, turning around to open the car door again.

She giggled, grabbing my arm.

"No, no it'll be fine. Come on," she linked my arm with hers and walked me toward the doors where the crowd of jocks were.

Sarah was right.

I got stares.

It made me want to turn invisible right there.

I didn't see Ethan or Grayson the whole morning. When

lunch rolled around, I looked around for Tyler.
