Chapter 3: Donut

TININGNAN ko ng masama si Marcus. He doesn't have the right to be in this office lalo na ang manira ng gamit. He looked at me na para bang nabigla siya or was that concern or guilt in his eyes. But needless to say wala akong pakialam.

I hated him and what he did now made me hate him more.

Bigla kong binaling ang tingin ko kay Elijah.

Hindi ko napansin na nakatayo na siya and he was already beside me.

"Leave bago ka pa sapilitang mapalabas ng security," matigas na sabi ni Elijah bago niya hinila ang kamay ko.

"Is this the man you want to marry Nic? Hindi ko alam kung anong pinakainin ng lalaking 'yan kay Tito Lucio. I hope this serves a warning to your family. Sa susunod baka hindi nalang ang SDMC ang masulot niya mula sa pamilya natin. Baka ang lahat na ng kompanyang pinaghirapan ng daddy mo at ng daddy ko," mariing sabi ni Marcus bago tiningnan ng masama ni Elj." I'm not yet done with you, " he threatened and stormed out of the office. Pagkuwan ay hila hila na ako ni Elijah papunta rin sa labas.

Wala siyang sinabi basta nga lang kaming dumeretso. Ni wala siyang binilin o sinabi sa secretary niya. Tumuloy kami kung saan nakaparada ang sasakyan niya. Pinapasok niya ako at kinabitan ng seatbelt.

I didn't know if he was angry or not. He wasn't the type to lose his cool easily I have never seen him na naging boyolente kahit kailan. Except that one  time with Marcus. He was rational and confrontational. He's even frank at times but never lose his cool.

Nagulat ako ng dumeretso kami sa unit niya. Hindi parin siya nagsasalita. He just opened the car door for me at hinila muli ako.

I was already tense. Ni hindi ko nga ma enjoy ang kamay niyang nakahawak sa kamay ko. I wanted to savor the feeling but I know something was off. Galit ata talaga siya.

Pagkapasok na pagkapasok namin sa unit binitawan na niya ang kamay ko saka ako hinarap.

"Why did you forcibly went inside my office? What did I tell you, Nica?!Tatawagan kita di ba? You can't just force yourself to come in my office just because you want to. You can't even come at this place anytime you please just because you want too. Hindi lahat ng gusto mo pwede mong gawin dahil gusto mo lang, Nica. What if something happens to you while your driving alone? Paano kung may makasalubong kang masasamang loob sa daan?" he sighed exasperatedly."Do you even realized what those people around you feels when you're doing that? Ha, Nica?!"

I played with my fingers and hid them behind my back. I didn't want to cry in front of him kaya kahit masakit sa lalamunan pinigilan ko. I didn't talk until I was sure na hindi ako makakaiyak sa harap niya.

" I'm sorry, gusto lang kasi kitang surpresahin kahapon. About earlier I'm sorry because I was too overwhelmed about the kakao friends you gave me. Gusto lang kitang makita just to thank you, " I said and averted my eyes to the floor.

Nagpakawala muli siya ng malalim na buntong hininga. "There is no need for that surprise, Nic. And you could just wait for my call to thank me. Hindi mo kailangang pumunta ng office."

"I'm sorry for being a bitch to you."

"I didn't say you're a bitch. Matigas lang ang ulo mo."

"Hindi ba talaga kita pwedeng e-surprise?" I don't know why there was this sudden knot in my chest thinking that I couldn't do anything to surpise him. Actually maraming beses ko na siyang sinurprise but it seems like he doesn't like it.

"I'm telling you that there's no need for that. You're too impulsive and you always do things without realizing what might happen to you."

I nodded. "Okay. I'm sorry," I tried to swallow the lump in my throat at pinilit kong tingnan ang mukha niya. "Aalis na ako. Tatawagan ko na si Manong Andoy na sunduin ako dito." I fished out my phone right away. I wanted to leave. I felt like I can't hold on any longer. Ang hirap magpigil na hindi umiyak.
