"Peridot? Open the door" I've been knocking for three minutes and I’m getting pissed. We are supposed to go out today.
“I’m coming” I heard and I smiled, the little dork sounds like she just woke up.
“Hurry I’m hungry” I can hear her laugh
“Come in, it’s open” I walk into her dorm, the smell of pine trees and vanilla fill my nose, her signature sent. Clothes sprawled out over the floor, dishes piled up in the sink, the bed has never been made in the time I’ve been here, and there she is running around the room looking for a clean shirt.
“You almost done?” I moved her clothes from the couch to the floor on top of the piles already there.
“Relax we still got an hour before we are late”
“Yea but I’d like to be thirty minutes early”
“Since when does Amethyst Quartz ever want to be early”
“Since the professor said  it’s 25% of our grade is being punctual, professor jerkface made that pretty clear in our last class. You would know if you didn’t fall asleep”
“If I remember correctly, the only reason why I was tired was because you decided it would be a great idea to celebrate your new adoption.”
“Don’t forget them insisting to the school boards that since you get to graduate early I should go to.”
“So we basically celebrated your new family is allowed to cut corners because they got a dozen 0’s in their bank account.”
“Something like that.” 
Peridot walked over finally with a shirt on and kissed my cheek.
    “Well whatever the reason is I’m glad it brought me to you”

These quiet moments with her make everything so worth it, we may not have known each other before but our scars with the same man have given us. I guess it’s true what people say, that tragedies bring people closer, I’m just hoping that this spot in my life is much safer than the one before. I run my fingers through her long her listening to music from her phone, I look down and kissed her forehead.
    “Wakey wakey it’s time for church” she let out a small yawn and rubbed her eyes.
    “Mmmm five more minutes”
    “Come on, if you get up now we can stop by the big donut” she sat up and got off the bed.
    “You’re gonna owe me more than just a donut you know”
    “I promise you will get whatever you want”
    “Promise?” I kissed her lips something I’d never thought I’d do but now that I am, I never want to stop.
    “Get dressed sweetie." I get off the bed and fix my hair in the mirror. I turn around and watch her slip on her blue skirt and white blouse on, and I never thought someone can look so beautiful.
    "Ready Pearl?" I loved the way she said my name.
    "I was gonna ask the same thing Lapis"
