"So math time after school?" Brandon asked while I was cleaning Jake's heart-shaped confetti from my locker.

"Do we have to?" I sighed. "Don't answer."

"Can I take that as a yes?" Brandon chuckled. He looked extra adorable today but I couldn't really tell why.

"Fine." I muttered. Brandon had been tutoring me and even though my grades had gone up, I still hated math.

"Good! Eh... gotta go." Brandon said and hurried to get away from me. I didn't have to wonder long about why because I noticed Tasha and Stacey were approaching me.

"Hi." I greeted them.

"Hello!" Stacey said. Tasha gave me a nod before she started texting someone.

"How was class?" Stacey asked. She had her ginger hair in a cute braid.

"Boring. I had math the last period so I'm glad I survived." I laughed awkwardly. "I like your hair." I told Stacey.

I like your hair? That seemed like such a stupid thing to say.

"Oh em gee! Thanks! First I wanted to do this fishtail braid thingy but I just couldn't do it and I didn't want to run late so I quickly made a normal one." Stacey explained. I'd never heard her talk that much but that was probably because her leader was busy texting.

"You should ask Grace to show you." I suggested. She always had special kinds of braids.

"Ask Grace what?" Her familiar voice asked behind my back. I couldn't help but feel relieved that Grace and Kate had joined. I didn't feel comfortable being alone with the others yet.

"My hair!" Stacey answered dramatically.

"Hi guys. Tash, where's minion number two?" Kate teased.

"Who? Oh, whatever." She answered absentmindedly.

"Alright then. So what are we talking about?" Kate asked.

"Apparently they were talking about my amazing braiding skills." Grace said with a smug look on her face.

"We're talking about hair? Awesome." Kate replied sarcastically.

"So." Tasha suddenly said a little too loud so everyone had to pay attention to her. She'd put her phone away and looked at us. Her lips were almost neon pink so it was hard to focus on anything else. "Let's go shopping." She suggested. Although it didn't seem like a suggestion, more like a command.

"Aw man, I can't go." Stacey pouted.

"Me neither. I have a date with Matt. Mama needs some sugar." Kate said while flicking her hair in Grace's face.

"What did I tell you about calling yourself mama? It's gross." Grace laughed.

"Mama doesn't care." Kate winked.

"I can't go either. My sister is moving in with her boyfriend and I'm helping." Grace said.

"Do you need help with that?" I asked Grace as a last resort. No way in hell was I going shopping with just Tasha. She scared me.

"No, sorry Tess." Grace said and I could tell that she really was sorry.

"Looks like it's just me and you. Great, you kinda need a makeover." Tasha said while looking at me from head to toe.

"Oh! I forgot! Brandon is tutoring me today." Did math just save my life?

"So? Ditch the dork." Tasha said as if it was the most obvious thing ever.
