"Yes! I'm so looking forward to the party!" Eve jumped up and down while I subtly took a step back so I wouldn't get dragged into her happy dance.
"Do we have to?" I moaned. I was tired from working all week so on this Friday evening I just wanted to watch some Netflix in my pajamas and go to bed early.
"Yes! You turned 25! You can't just not celebrate that." Eve told me.
Right. That was something that had happened yesterday. At work they bought me a huge cake and that was about it. I didn't like the number 25. I preferred being 24.
"Yay." I said in a bored way.
"Come on, don't be a pooper. We're gonna wear dresses that are too tight, drink a little too much, maybe meet a nice hunk and have an evening with a happy ending if you know what I mean." Eve nudged me playfully. Since she was still dating Finn I doubted she was talking about herself.
I snorted. "Right."
"You're a single woman living in New York. Get that hunk! I wanna live vicariously through you." She clarified. I knew she had an ulterior motive, the girl wanted details.
I hadn't had a boyfriend in a year so during that year I got married to my job. Eve constantly told me I was all work and no fun. Maybe she was right.
"I guess I could go clubbing with you." I pondered. I had been cooped up in my tiny apartment for too long. Tonight, I was gonna have some fun.
"Yes! Let's go to my place because you probably don't have anything to wear." Eve dragged me out of the door before I could defend myself. But who were we kidding? Obviously I didn't have anything to wear.
I'd be ashamed to leave my door in my comfy attire if Eve didn't live in the same building. I did manage to almost fall up the stairs because Eve hadn't let go of my arm while running up the stairs. It was great to know that I was still as uncoordinated at 25.
Eve barged into her room and when I pushed her blonde hair away from my face before it started suffocating me, I noticed she'd already picked out some dresses for me to choose from.
"Give a warning first! I could've been naked." Finn told his girlfriend.
"Please, you're too paranoid about that old lady across the street lurking at you." Eve rolled her eyes.
"It's true! She caught me in a vulnerable state once. You believe me, right?" Finn looked at me.
"Sure, I believe you gave that old lady quite the scare." I teased him.
"You women are all the same, sticking together..." I didn't hear the rest of his sentence because Finn locked himself in the bedroom.
"It's probably his time of the month." Eve shrugged. "So, dresses!"
"Can't I just-"
"No way are you going out wearing jeans and a tee. I'm gonna make you smoking hot." Eve decided to interrupt me. She really was a girl on a mission.
After an hour of bickering, I finally convinced Eve I was going for the simple little black dress. I drew the line when she wanted to choose my underwear. I told her I definitely wasn't gonna wear a push-up bra and I was perfectly able to pick my own underwear. I had to pinky promise I wouldn't wear granny panties.
I tried to tell her I didn't own a pair of granny panties but she gave me that sassy look with one raised eyebrow and a hand firmly planted on her hip. She saw right through me. I did, in fact, own a pair of those but it's not like I wore them all the time. They were just comfy.
