"Stop moping and hand me the ice cream!" Eve complained and shoved me playfully. Since we went to a different college, we didn't get to see each other that often. She'd cut her platinum blonde hair into a pixie cut and it looked pretty cool.
"I'm allowed to mope. When's Finn coming over?" I asked her with my mouth full of ice cream. This really wasn't my best moment.
"You dated that guy for like a month. What was his name again? Sean?" Eve rolled her eyes and I had to admit I was being quite dramatic.
"Yeah I think his name was Sean." I pondered and burst out laughing when I realised Eve believed me for a second.
When I left home for a year, a lot had changed. My best friends Eve and Finn had started dating each other and at first it was pretty weird but I got used to it. They were good together.
Saying goodbye had been hard when I returned back home after I graduated high school. I'd grown close to Grace and Kate and luckily we still kept in contact quite often.
Kate found a job in New York and since I went to school there, we decided to live together for the time being. It was an ideal situation and I was glad to have an awesome roommate instead of putting an ad on craigslist and hoping the creeps wouldn't react to it.
Grace went to study a few states away, so when we talk it's usually on Skype. She shares a dorm with her boyfriend, Ethan. Yep, cotton candy Ethan. During the holidays Ethan came back home and Luke and I made it our mission to get those two together. We succeeded.
Luke and I were a pretty good team until he confessed his feelings for me and things got awkward. At that time I really couldn't do a relationship because what had happened with Jake had lingered for a little while.
Jake and I tried to start out with a clean slate and we would hang out a couple of times but I slowly realised he was way different than the romantic Jake I'd fallen for. He had been right all along and when I realised he wasn't that person, I apologised. I guess I had been a little selfish during that challenge. No harm done, though.
After I moved back home, we kinda stopped talking. At first, I missed him and my heart had ached a little when he'd sent me a fire hoop for my birthday. I'd called him that night to thank him and we had a nice conversation but then the contact fizzled again.
I'd never forget about him though. After I got home again, I'd talked to my parents and told them what was on my mind. I'd told them that I really didn't like how they made me live with Maggie without even talking it over with me. I'd definitely gotten more assertive because of Jake. Good thing, because you really need to be when you live in New York.
"See, you don't even know his name. Plus, you broke up with him." Eve argued. I tried to ignore her by shoving a little more ice cream in my mouth but I slowly turned red when I noticed she'd kept her eyes on me. I didn't like it when people'd stare at me.
"Fine, I just wanna eat junk food and mope around for the sake of it." I laughed.
"Why did you break up with him anyway?" She asked and right as I wanted to answer, Finn decided to appear. He gave Eve a peck on the lips and then continued to push his finger in my tub of ice cream.
"Mm, chocolate." He said after sucking on his finger.
"You're disgusting." I scrunched my nose but it didn't stop me from taking another scoop from the tub.
"Yet you invited me over." He shrugged.
"Don't think you can just ignore my question." Eve narrowed her eyes at me.
