Jake
Visiting my dad had sucked major balls. Emma wanted to listen to some obnoxious music during the car ride. Luckily I was able to distract her from that idea by playing games with her, like punching each other when we spotted a yellow car.
Unfortunately, I didn't think the plan through, because once we were in New York, we came across a yellow cab every five seconds. After the horrible traffic, we'd arrived at dad's place. Fun.
His hair was getting grey and his eyes were a lighter shade of brown but other than that I looked like a younger version of him. That just made it suck even more.
Emma immediately jumped into his arms because that fucker put on his charming smile. I didn't fall for it though. He'd ruined our relationship years ago and now we had a nice thing going on between the two of us. We tolerated each other. Nothing more, nothing less.
I'd planned on going out that night. Going out in New York was always a lot of fun. Daddy dearest ruined those plans for me by suggesting we'd go together. I told him you couldn't just leave a little girl alone at home, especially in a city like New York and his solution was calling one of his friends to keep an eye on Emma.
One of his girl friends.
Being disgusted, I grabbed Em and drove home again. She was sound asleep in her own bed by midnight. My mom looked worried but I'd promised I'd tell her in the morning.
Good thing I came home early though, Tessa texted me an hour later. She'd had trouble sleeping the past few nights and I knew I wasn't gonna be able to sleep either. I was still too riled up from everything that had happened during the day.
I got the impulsive idea of grabbing the old couch I'd woken up to when I'd been high and placing it at the end of Tessa's street. I figured dropping it in front of her house would raise too much suspicion.
As I'd expected, she'd been worrying all night and I let her relax. It was nice to know I hadn't lost my special touch. I asked her a lot of questions so I could distract myself from my anger towards my dad and luckily it worked.
I was tired as fuck though. I almost fell asleep during one of her stories.
After I got home later that morning, I had a long cold shower and afterwards I'd explained everything to my mom. She obviously defended my dad even though I didn't get why.
"He probably didn't mean it that way. Did you at least let him finish?" My mom asked. I couldn't believe this.
"Are you fucking kidding me? He wanted to grab drinks with his underaged son while letting one of his whores take care of Emma!" I exclaimed. I was extra grumpy because I didn't catch any sleep and even though I didn't want to fight with my mom, I couldn't help myself.
"You're overreacting! Merda!" My mom cursed.
"I'm overreacting? How can you even defend him? You always defend that bastard." I shot back.
"Because you always hate on him." My mom said. She wasn't trying to keep her anger bottled up anymore.
"He left you!" I raised my arms in the air. How could she not get this? Why did she still have a soft spot for that loser after all this time?
"I asked him to leave!" My mom yelled.
Silence.
"What?" I asked after a few minutes. We'd just been staring at each other and the anger had slowly disappeared to make room for confusion.
"I asked him to leave." My mom repeated softly.
"What did he do? Cheat on you or something?" I asked with a malicious undertone.
