Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim.
In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn . The Only Owner of the Day of Recompense. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help. Guide us to the Straight Way. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace , not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray .
____________42: (Al-Shura)- Mutual Consultation
(The Consultation)
Section (juz' 25)
Number of Verses: 53
This Meccan Chapter has fifty three Verses and its title derives from the question of shura ("consultation") referred to in Verse 38.
The Chapter treats of the basic tenets of the Islamic faith, e.g. Divine Unity, Resurrection, Prophethood, as well as ethical and social issues. From amongst the twenty-nine Chapters opening with detached letters, the longest series of detached letters is attested in the Chapter in question.
It is worthy of note that the Chapter unravels the mystery of detached letters, since they are followed by:
"Likewise Allah, the Omnipotent, the All-Wise sends Revelation unto you,"
i.e. the Revelation is sent down employing the Arabic letters of alphabet available to everyone whom are challenged to produce the like of it.
According to a tradition narrated from the Noble Prophet (S):
"One who recites Surah al-Shura is among those on whom angels send down Divine Mercy and for whom they ask forgiveness.

This Surah has 53 ayaat and it was revealed in Makkah. The Holy Prophet (S) said that the one who recites this Surah will be from among those people on whom the angels send salutations and pray for their forgiveness.
It is narrated from Imam Ja'far as-Sadiq (a.s.) that whoever recites this Surah will be raised on the Day of Reckoning with a face as bright as the full moon and he will be told: 'You are from those who used to recite ash-Shura. If you knew the reward for this, you would never have felt tired of reciting it.' The angels will then be ordered to take him to Jannah where he will find a palace made of red rubies. There will be two huries and a thousand slaves in that palace.
If this Surah is written and kept as a talisman, it becomes a means of protection and drinking water in which this Surah has been dissolved is especially good for those intending to travel as it provides for a journey without unforeseen problems.

Lessons
There is nothing like Allāh.Allāh is kind to His servants; He gives provision to whomsoever He wills.Whoever wants the fruits of the Hereafter, Allāh increases them for him, and whoever strives for the fruits of the world only, he is granted a little thereof, and no share from that of the Hereafter.Allāh is the One who accepts repentance from His servants, and forgives sins.If Allāh was to make provisions plentiful and easily accessible to all His servants, they would rebel on earth.Whatever calamity befalls you, it is a consequence of your own doing; and Allāh forgives the majority anyway. To take counsel and consult others is commendable. The punishment for an act of oppression is revenge of the same, however, the one who overlooks and reconciles will be rewarded handsomely by AllāhThe one who retaliates after being oppressed is not to blame. The only blameworthy people are those who wrongfully oppress and rebel on earth. A painful punishment awaits them. Those who bear patience and forgive, are the ones truly commendable and full of resolve.Allāh grants children to whomsoever He wills. To some He grants only daughters, to some only sons, to some both, and to some nothing.
