Bismillah-ir-Rahman-ir-Rahim.

In the Name of Allâh, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful. All the praises and thanks be to Allâh, the Lord of the 'Alamîn . The Only Owner of the Day of Recompense. You (Alone) we worship, and You (Alone) we ask for help. Guide us to the Straight Way. The Way of those on whom You have bestowed Your Grace , not (the way) of those who earned Your Anger, nor of those who went astray .

106: (Quraysh)- Quraysh

(Custodians of the Ka'aba)

Number of Verses: 4

Sūra Quraysh (Arabic: سورة قريش) or Sūra al-Īlāf (Arabic: سورة الإیلاف) is 106th sura of the quran. It is a makki sura located in thirty juz. This sura is called "Quraysh" or "Ilaf" because it speaks about the solidarity among quraysh.

It mentions the blessings of god for Quraysh and their duties toward those blessings. It is narrated from the prophet (s) that whoever recites Sura Quraysh, God will reward him ten times more than the number of those who circumambulate the ka'ba and those who stay in masjid al-haram.

This Meccan Surah is, indeed, the supplement to the preceding one; Surah Fil. The verses of the Surah are a clear evidence for this idea. They describe the blessings the Quraish tribe were given to enjoy; might they be thankful to Him and worship Him, the Lord of the Sacred House (Ka'ba) from which they obtained all their honour and high social status.

As was said at the beginning of Surah Duha, which is considered one Surah with Surah Inshirah, the same as Surah Fil is with Surah Quraish, the unity and similarity of the matters, in both of them (Fil and Quraish), are so much so that they can be taken as an evidence for the unity of Surah Duha and Surah Inshirah.

That is why both of them must be recited together, one set or the other in one 'rak'at' of a prayer, as a complete Surah if one chooses them in his obligatory prayers.

For more explanation on this subject, books of jurisprudence (chapters on prayers and recitation) are at your disposal.

On the virtue of reciting the Surah, a tradition is adequate to cite from the holy Prophet (S) who has been narrated to have said:

"He who recites it is rewarded ten 'good deeds' as many as the number of those who perform the ritual circumambulation of the Ka'ba, and spiritual retreat in the Sacred Mosque".

Assuredly such a virtue is of a person who humbly worships Allah, Who is the Lord of Ka'ba, and protects the nobility of the House and hearkens to the message of the shrine with the ear of his soul and practices it.

Benefits

This Surah has 4 ayaat and it was revealed in Makkah. The Holy Prophet (S) said that the one who recites this Surah will get the reward of ten times the number of people performing Tawaaf and I'tekaaf.

The recitation of Surah al-Feel and al-Quraysh in the compulsory prayers carries great reward. If this Surah is recited on food, its ill effects are removed. Those with heart conditions should recite this Surah and then gently blow into some drinking water and drink it. If a poor person recites this Surah before sunrise, Allah (S.w.T.) will make it easy for him to get his sustenance.

Lessons

Allāh blessed the Quraysh with security when they sent caravans on business trips, all year round. No one would attack them because of their ties with the House of Allāh.Allāh sends us blessings and bounties, and expects of us to worship and obey Him alone in return.Allāh also blessed the Quraysh in that much would be brought to them in terms of sustenance, whilst those in surrounding places would suffer. We too witness this when visiting Makkah: we find all kinds of food, drink and other items, at even the most busiest of periods.Never take the blessings of Allāh for granted. Always show gratitude by remaining obedient to him.
