52: (Al-Tur)- Mount Sinai

(The Mount)Section (juz'): 27Number of Verses: 49

Sūra al-Ṭūr (Arabic: سورة الطور) is the fifty second surah of the quran. It is a makki sura and located in juz twenty seven. In the first verse of this sura, it is sworn upon "al-Tur" (the Mount), and therefore this sura is called "al-Tur". It is said that "al-Tur" refers to the mountain where Prophet moses (a) received revelations. Sura al-Tur threatens disbelievers with punishment and mentions some of its attributes. Then, it describes some of the blessings of the paradise and admonishes the deniers of the prophethood of the prophet (s). About the merits of the recitation of Sura al-Tur, one of the transmitted says that whoever recites it, will be away from the punishment of hell, resides in the Paradise and will receive the good of this world and the hereafter.

The Chapter was revealed in Mecca and it has forty nine Verses. The title of the Chapter owes its designation to the opening Verse. The word Tur, connoting the Mount of Tur, the appointed place (miqat) where Torah was Divinely revealed to Prophet Moses (as), is attested ten times in the Holy Qur'an. Like other Meccan Chapters, Chapter 52 mainly treats of Resurrection, the Rewards to be granted to the pure, and the chastisement in store for disbelievers.

Mention is also made herein to defending the Noble Prophet (S) and the virtues of patience and perseverance.

According to a Prophetic tradition:

"One who recites Surah al-Tur shall be safe from torment and shall enjoy Divine Favors in Paradise."

Another tradition narrated from Imam Baqir (as) reads:

"One who recites Surah al-Tur shall be grated Divine Good in this world and the Hereafter."

It is evident that such great Rewards in this world and the Hereafter fall into the share of those who recite the Chapter in order to preoccupy themselves with contemplation and make use of the same to act upon them.

Lessons

Allah(God) swears an Oath on 5 Thing1) By the Tur(Mountain on which Moses spoke to God)2) By a book inscribed(The Torah)3) By the inhabited house(The Kaba, or the area parallel to it in heaven)4) By the elevated canopy(The sky)5) By the surging ocean

Then Allah after making on Oath on the above, mentions the reality of the punishment on the Day of Judgment, just like those mentioned above are real. saying" Indeed the punishment of Your Lord will surely come to pass" 52:7If that last verse doesn't make the Message of the reality of Judgement day clear, I don't know what can; May the next verse can help52:8 "There shall be none to avert it" the verse needs no explaining. Now the next couple of verses describe events of the Day of judgement and what will be done to those that in their life time deny Allah's warnings. "On that day, the sky will shake violently" and "the mountains will move around" 52:9,10And on that day people that took part on denying the truth and who engaged in vain talk, and falsehood. They will be dragged to hell and said "This is the fire you denied" "Is this a magic, or do you not see?" 52v:14,15 Then to put the fear of God in you, Allah says"Now burn therein(hell), it will be the same for you, whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it patiently, you are being rewarded according to your deeds" 52:16 HELL IS ETERNAL PEOPLE. Thats why it wont make a difference then if people chose to adopt patience; too late. These verses make it Cristal clear for those people that chose ignorance; this is proof, God is telling us before hand what we will see and experience. So, does it make sense to still act blind and live our life as if a greater being does not exist? that will hold us accountable for our aimless ways. I guess it would be hard for those that don't believe in God, period. To those people I would say, just look at how a child is created? what hard to understand is how people believe that wind exists even though they can't see it but they refuse to believe there's a God because they can't see it????? Double standard much!!
