Nadia smoothed down her skirt as she surveyed her appearance in the mirror. She sighed heavily and slumped on her bed. "Do I have to go?" She groaned.

"Yes. The Slug Club is...well, it's legendary. Only the most prestigious students are selected." Sam stated matter-of-factly.

"He only wants me because my parents were famous." Nadia mumbled.

"Stop with the negativity, Nadia." Ashton said sternly, plopping down beside her and poking her forehead. "You are one of the smartest students I know. And I'm not just saying that because I'm your best friend. If anyone deserves to be there, it's you."

Nadia smiled softly and sat up. "Well then, I ought to go. I'm already late enough."

"Go get your smart-ass on!" Ashton whooped, shoving her out the dorm door.

Nadia chuckled at her antics as she descended the stairs and left the common room on her journey to the dungeons.

However, as she passed the bathroom, she heard quiet sobs and sniffling. Compassion taking over, she entered the room carefully. "Hello? Are you okay?" She asked as she came to the door of the source of the crying.

"I'm fine. I'm fine." The voice choked out. Nadia immediately recognised it.

"Ginny?" The sobbing halted. "It's Nadia. What's wrong?"

"Nadia?" Ginny whispered as she unlocked the door.

Nadia frowned at her bloodshot eyes and tear-stained cheeks, abruptly pulling the shaken girl into her arms. "Oh, Gins. What happened?"

"It's D-Dean. We h-had another argument a-and I t-think i-it might be t-the end for us." Ginny explained in between sniffles.

Nadia stroked her hair affectionately, cradling her like a broken toy. "I'm sure it will be okay, Ginny. And if it is the end then you will be strong and move on. If it is the end after a petty argument then it was really never meant to be. You're only fifteen, the 'one' will come along." She said in the nicest way possible, subtly hinting at a love-sick, bespectacled boy.

"Thank you, Nadia." Ginny sniffed, rubbing her eyes and wiping her nose. "It means a lot."

"You're welcome." Nadia grinned. "Now, don't we have a dinner party to get to?" She stood and held out her hands, wriggling her fingers for Ginny to take it.

The small red-head giggled quietly before mirroring Nadia's actions and taking her hand. "By the way, you do look gorgeous." Nadia complimented.

"So do you. As always." Ginny retorted with a small smirk.

The girls shared a laugh and walked to the dungeons together, arriving fashionably late.

They opened the door and stood there awkwardly, hand-in-hand and all eyes on them.

"Miss Konstantinova! Miss Weasley! Come in, come in." Slughorn chortled, beaming at the girls.

"Sorry, sir. We're not ordinarily late." Ginny spoke.

"Nonsense!" Slughorn dismissed with a smile. "You're just in time for desert. That is, if Belby's left you any."

Nadia's eyes wandered to the chubby boy shoving ice cream and profiteroles down his throat. She grimaced lightly.

"Please, take your seats."

As Ginny dropped Nadia's hand, heading for the seat beside Harry, he suddenly rose from the table, his eyes boring into hers.

Ginny faltered slightly as Nadia just smirked, heading for the other spare seat beside Blaise.

She sent a knowing wink to Hermione who returned her amusement at the pair.
