It was the last week of summer and it couldn't have been quicker for Nadia.
She had spent every day bonding with her mother and, honestly, she didn't want it to end.
Speaking of, her mother burst into her room with a giddy smile adorning her features. "I have something for you."
Nadia furrowed her eyebrows but a grin quickly overtook her face when Katerina pulled a bird cage into the room. Inside sat a beautiful barn owl with white and caramel coloured feathers, a heart shaped face and the most entrancing eyes. She rushed over to the cage. "An owl of my own?"
"Yes!" Nadia laughed at her mother's childish squeals. "It makes up for not getting you one when you started school. Now Astrid won't get so exhausted."
She engulfed her mother in a hug. "Thank you."
"You're welcome, angel. So, what's her name?"
"Uhh. How about...Olivia?"
"Brilliant."
They were disturbed by a faint tapping on Nadia's bedroom window. Katerina placed the cage on her dresser and excused herself from the room.
Nadia recognised the owl to be the Weasley's. She took the letter, petted the owl and watched it glide away.
She tore the parchment and tried her best to read the untidy scrawl of her red-headed best friend.
To Nadia,
I hope you've enjoyed your summer! It's been dead boring around here.
Anyway, my family were wondering if you'd like to come to the Quidditch World Cup with us.
Harry and Hermione are coming too and it'd be great if you could join us.
Send a reply as soon as possible.
From,
RonNadia smiled. Her and Katerina had been invited by the Minister to the Quidditch World Cup but accepting that would mean attention. A lot of it. And Nadia wasn't one for attention. Going with the Weasley's meant she wouldn't have to face that.
She dropped the letter and raced downstairs. "Mum! I ju-- Draco?"
She stopped dead in her tracks upon noticing the platinum-blonde boy and his mother sitting in her living room.
He smiled at the sight of the blue rose pendant still dangling from her neck. "Angel? What's up?"
"N-nothing. It can wait. What's going on here?"
"Oh! Narcissa and Draco just popped over to invite us to attend the Quidditch World Cup with them and Lucius, since they were invited by Cornelius too." Her mother smiled contently.
Nadia's eyes widened. "They did?"
"Yes, and I know how you feel about attention so they'll take you to the seats whilst I'm greeted." She raised her eyebrows as if waiting for an answer. Nadia smiled curtly before nodding.
"That'd be lovely." Draco's smile grew ten times wider. "I'll just be...um...upstairs."
She closed her door and sighed. She would have loved to go with Harry, Hermione and the Weasleys but going with Draco also had its perks. She felt that they hadn't really got to spend a lot of time together this year so this could be a good thing.
Pulling out some clean parchment, her quill and ink, she began writing her reply.
Dear Ron,
My summer has been good. I've spent a lot of time with mum so I'm happy.
As for your invitation, I would have loved to come with you and your family but me and my mum are now attending with the Malfoy's. I didn't have much of a say.
I'm sorry but hopefully I'll see you all there.
Regards,
NadiaOnce she rendered it good enough, Nadia took Olivia from her cage and fed her some leftover crackers, running her hand along her silky feathers. "Take this to the Burrow."
She collapsed on her bed, pondering about the World Cup when she ended up slipping into a light sleep.
A/N: Very short but there's not much to say. Well, I didn't really know what to write :/
Ahh I just can't wait for fourth year. You don't even understand what I have planned. Mwahahaha!
Oh god. I need help.
Thank youuuu x
