Your POV

I shot up in the bed with a gasp. Alone. I was alone in a hospital room once again. From the sun spots peering through the blinds of the window, dancing elegantly around the room, I could tell it was around midday.

"Where the hell-" I went to speak. My voice was raspy. My throat aches.

I touched my shoulder. Instantly, sparks of sharp stinging pain shot through, as if warning me not to touch. I looked down, pushing the bandages aside momentarily. It was stitched up nicely, but I was sure it would scar.

I pulled the oxygen tubing from my nostrils. I could breathe just fine, and they were annoying me. - I sighed, and pressed the call button on the side of the bed to call in a nurse. I wanted to leave. I wanted to know how long it's been. I wanted to know if the paladins made it back safely.

A few minutes go by, and a nurse pops through the door. "Ah! Good morning, [Y/N]!" She smiled.

"Uh, yeah. Morning." I squinted. "What time is it? What day is it?"

"It's around 1:30pm. It's been about five days since your surgery. So Saturday."

"Shit."

Eventually the nurse left me to rest after shooting down every attempt at negotiating to leave I made; rest I did not. I sat quickly and started by pulling the IV from my arm, tossing it aside. I kicked my legs over the edge of the bed and slid off the surface. - My backpack, which I assume someone must've left for me being either my brother, Keith or Lance, my girlfriend or whoever, was waiting in the chair by the bed.

I stripped myself of the hospital gown, wincing through the stinging pain that would jolt up my spine through my shoulder at any sudden movement. I didn't care. I needed to find everyone, and I needed to help with the war. Even if it killed me. — I pulled on some simple clothing that was both easy to pull on with my injury, and would be easy to slip my armor over. I settled for black leggings and a tank top with thin adjustable straps that would comfortably go over the bandages.

And with that, I was gone, vanishing from the hospital room with no hesitation. — I tried to keep my head down as I made my way through the interior of the building and around to the back door. But, being on a heavily guarded military base with cameras everywhere, it was inevitable that I was caught.

"Is that [Y/N]?"
"The Shirogane girl? I think so."
"What is she doing?" Someone whispered. "Hey! You're not authorized to leave!"

"Shit," I murmured. The man was walking up to me, so I, running on nothing but adrenaline and sheer determination, let my fight or flight take over, and darted away from the employees as fast as my legs would allow me to.

I suddenly caught onto the fact that the man was not the only one chasing me, and willed my legs to carry me faster. Garrison employees were seeming to appear out of nowhere. But I couldn't give up yet. I couldn't sit there while everyone else saved the universe, and while they risked their lives. I had to do this. For the sake of the world and everyone who inhabited it; for the sake of families, and for love, and for the new generations to come.

Someone grabbed me by the collar of my shirt, yanking my back. "Where do you think you're going, young lady?"

"Let me go, bastard!" I yelled, trying desperately to pull him off of me.

"You can't leave yet—" I didn't care enough to let him finish before elbowing him as hard as I possibly could. His grip loosened, and I took that opportunity to continue sprinting. The back door was just out of reach. I was so close.

"Ma'am, assaulting staff is illegal!"

"I'm staff here as well! Now let me leave, I need to find my team!" I didn't realize how desperate I sounded until I was all but screaming as hot tears escaped my eyes, but didn't dare to fall down my cheeks.
