Your POV
A nurse walked in a few moments later, to inform me of everything going on in a medical sense.
"Ms. Shirogane," She started. "When running X-rays, we've picked up on a device, implanted in your right shoulder. Are you experiencing any pain I'm the area?"
I decided it'd do no good to lie to her. "Yes ma'am, I have been most of the time spent in captivity."
She jots down some notes on her clipboard, before turning her attention back to me. "Mmmhmmm," She hummed. "I don't want to scare you, but," She started, which already sounded nerve racking. "The metal used can produce toxins, that will lead straight to the bloodstream, that are not recognized by the human body. If left in too long, it can, and most likely will be fatal."
I gulped. "So... Can you take it out?"
"Yes, but," She started, handing my an x-ray photograph of the object. "Given that the object of concern is so close to the Suprascapular nerve and artery, surgery, if not done carefully, could cause severe nerve damage, rendering you paralyzed, or at worst, dead."
"I- Oh..."
"But, luckily, we have experienced professional surgeons here at the Garrison. Injury or fatality would be very rare in this case, but the recovery process will be long, you most likely won't be awake through most of recovery though, we'll just need your legal guardian to sign a waiver, stating that we are not liable for any further injury or fatality."
"OH!" Was all I could say. "Uh, Adam... Where's Shiro?" I asked.
"Giving a speech to the surviving citizens at the memorial for everyone lost." He said that so nonchalant, I was almost concerned.
"It's alright," The nurse said. "Just have him come sign for you when he's done."
"Uh, ma'am?" I asked. "What is the object in my shoulder supposed to do? Like... What was it implanted for?"
"From what we can tell," She said. "It was supposed to be a tracking device." I nodded.
I looked over to Acxa, and mouthed "That's what got us caught,"
Once the woman left I groaned. "What a wonderful thing to wake up to."
Shiro stopped by a little while later.
"Hey, how are you?" He said calmly, as the door creaked open."Could be better," I shrugged, before explaining the surgery I'd have to get to remove the tracking device Sendak had implanted before his death, that would eventually cause mine.
"Oh no," He muttered. "That's horrible."
"Yeah, but at least everything's done," I sighed.
"About that," Shiro began fidgeting with the hem of his sleeve. "We're launching again in a few days, one last time."
"O- Oh," I said.
"But it's alright," He reassured me. "You just need to recover for that time. Don't sweat it."
"Just sucks I can't help,"

Later that day I decided I was bored just laying around, so I got up to go for a walk around the hospital. I wasn't supposed to, but who cares. I sure didn't.
I climbed out of bed, and limped my way through the hall, just taking in the crisp air, and the glow from the windows, when I passed by an open door, and immediately recognized the figure inside the room, propped up on a pillow, tapping away on their laptop.
