You woke up the next morning with a headache from hell, but your thoughts were on Kid. Did he really carry you to bed and actually call you by name for once? Was he actually that nice to you? You'd grown so accustomed to the constant bickering between you two in the short amount of time you've known him that the idea of him being so straightforward blew you away.

But it's the only part of the night you remember clearly, well that and you finally beating Zoro at his own game. Whatever, you'd ask Kid about it later. He technically wasn't your neighbor but he was at Killer's place everyday. You wouldn't be surprised if he had his own room there to be honest.

With a huff, you pushed yourself up out of bed, and got ready for work. You don't know why you chose to party the day before work, but you did. Now you had to be at the shop by six and you really didn't want to go as hungover as you were. But you knew you'd do it anyway. You liked Corzon too much to call in for something as stupid as a hangover.

Soon you were in front of your truck, getting ready to head out. Killer's truck was gone. You'd learned that he and Kid tended to work the odd hours of the night. When you were at work, they were usually sleeping and when you got home, Kid was up and at it, ready to pester you like the good neighbor he was. You'd have to sic Abel on him when you got home to pick on him a bit.

----

You never asked Kid about the night of the party. Every time you tried, you felt too nervous to go through with it. The thought of the situation made your heart beat faster than it ever had before and set your face alight to shades that could rival his hair color. You couldn't believe it. You'd started catching feelings for the asshole.

Weeks passed and the two of you acted like nothing had changed. You'd come home to his pestering and Killer would swoop in to stop him from time to time. The two of you would go get coffee together in your truck, he'd taken to driving now for some reason. You think he'd started to warm up to it. You'd always go through the drive thru now and just take the long way home, bickering back and forth the whole way of course. It all became second nature. It was a normal part of your life now and the people around you started to notice.

Today, you and Nami decided to meet up at the mall for a little change of pace. She said she needed new clothes so she dragged you from one store to the next until you both needed to take a break. The two of you settled into a lone table in the mall's food court.

"I think I'm set for life now!" Nami smiled excitedly as she rummaged through her spoils of the day.

"I sure hope so, you just about cleaned out a couple of those places."

"How could I not with such good deals?"

You laughed tiredly. "They were apparently too good to pass up for you."

You chatted back and forth about whatever came to mind until a sly smirk crossed Nami's face. "So how are things with Kid?"

"What do you mean? We argue and get coffee and that's about it. Nothing new."

"What girl goes and gets coffee with a guy all the time and says it's nothing special? You guys hang out non stop now."

"He's next door to me, it's pretty much impossible to not see him on a regular basis. We aren't hanging out, we're...running in to each other."

"You paused." She pointed a finger at you. "You shouldn't have to think about it or try to justify it (Y/n). You've got the hots for him and I think the feeling is mutual."

"I do not!" You raised your voice, earning a few weird looks from people passing by. "I do not." You repeated at a lower volume. "We're just friends is all."
