So this is a story I wrote for one of my other books, but I think it might be a good one for Newt too. On my other book it's called Freak. Enjoy :)
"Y/n!" My friend squealed and ran up to me, she threw her arms around me and squeezed tight.
"Charlotte." I gasped and laughed, hugging her back. "How are you?"
"Well!" She laughed and blushed, dressed up in her same quirky, yet gorgeous style. "You know Lara and I got married three years ago, the relationship started to crumple a little." She linked arms with me and we went through security with her rambling on about their issues, and how Charlotte had moved out to stay with her parents for a month because things got so bad. "So anyway, we decided that the relationship needed progressing, and we went to the child facility."
My eyes went wide.
"In six months time our baby daughter is going to be born!"
"That's incredible." I laughed. "So did you have to get a father or did you go for the SSB treatment?"
Charlotte's eyes turned harsh and dark. "We would never get a father! Of course we did the SSB treatment! We can afford it, so why not."
The SSB treatment, Same Sex Binding, was a laboratory way for couples to have a child with both of their genes. It was said to be amazing, you go in, the doctor takes some gametes and binds them in a very complicated way I did not understand, then nine months later you come and pick up your baby. It was an incredibly expensive treatment. I blushed, I had completely forgotten how successful all my school friends had turned out to be. Money wasnt an issue for them, and they threw it at everything without a second thought. Take this holiday for example. "I'm happy for you both." I looked down the line behind us where Lara, Charlotte's wife was chatting anyway to one of the other girls, Maria who was coming on the trip.
Charlotte grinned me a smile. "I could go on about it for years honestly, but I've talked so much." We joined the queue to board the plane, my hands began to sweat. I wiped them down on my jeans and focused on the smiling air hostess before us. She had confidence in the pilot, they all did. It wouldn't go wrong again.
"I haven't seen you since the wedding, how are you enjoying the married life?"
I glanced quickly at my partner. Vikki was further up the line, she had gone off to talk to another one of the girls on our trip. Their was eight of us in total, and after having not seen each other for months it was fairly chaotic, everyone trying to talk to each other, ask how their holiday was, or how their child was doing.
"It's good." I replied, wiping my hands again. Planes freaked me out big time.
"Any thoughts on children yet?"
I chewed my cheek. I knew that Vikki very much wanted children, she always went on about adopting a daughter. Her mums had adopted her, so it was sort of imprinted on her that she had to adopt one too, I knew she had subscribed to multiple adoption sites. Most of them had parents who were freaks, and the government had arrested and jailed them just for that reason, sending the child off to an orphanage. That's what Vikki's parents were in her words and most of the worlds, freaks. Disgusting freaks who deserved to rot in a jail and never see the sun again.
The sweat on my hands tripled and no amount of wiping could get rid of it. "Umm." I flushed red. "No not yet."
Fortunately Charlotte didn't seem to notice my panic. "I guess it's quite early on in the relationship for you. And you probably want to go off to university now that your brother is off on his own life."
I would love to go to university, try all the incredible experiences that everyone raved on about. "I can't go to university, I don't have the exams for it."
Charlotte laughed. "I bet Vikki can find someone to help you out with that." She handed her ticket to the hostess and went down the plane to take her seat, I followed on.
"Y/n." Vikki beckoned to me. "I saved you a seat." She patted the seat next to her, it was a window seat, I glanced out looking straight into the apartments surrounding the airport. I used to live in that one. The one with the paint peeling off the west side, the broken windows. Now look at me, sat in business class, my old neighbours wouldn't recognise me.
"You don't need to worry." She said, picking up my hair and twisting it in her fingers. "I've spoken to the pilot and he assures me that the chances of a crash is incredibly little."
"I'm not worried." I lied to her. "I used to fly all the time."
Vikki gave me her pity eyes, and she smoothed a hand down my cheek. "We will be alright." She turned and took a drink from the hostess, choosing one for me too. It was at that moment, when Vikki could see the isle between the seats that the couple walked in. A man and woman holding hands, entered the plane, the hostess dropped her smile but still showed them to the isle and pointed to their seats in the back. "Freaks!" Vikki spat, as they passed. "Do everyone a favour and kill yourselves!"
"Vikki!" I hissed snatching her hand and begging her to stop death staring the couple. "Its being more accepted you can't say that stuff."
"It's unnatural y/n!" Vikki was fueled by hatred as she shouted aloud about the outrage that had walked past. The worst part was she wasn't the only one, Charlotte and her wife shouted remarks at them too, so did the couple behind us.
"Look you're right! I am afraid." I blurted out, desperate to get her to focus on something else. I hated it when she had a go at heterosexuals.
Her face, all scrunched up in anger and disgusted relaxed and she went back to playing with my hair. "You'll be fine. Just because one plane crashed years ago, doesn't mean that this one will." She said, glancing over her shoulder again at the couple, who were trying to avoid everyone's hateful looks.
I grabbed her cheeks and kissed her. She smiled and completely forgot about the freaks. "I think we can find a way to relax you." She slipped her hands between my legs, wrapping her fingers around my inner thigh and giving it a squeeze. I gulped, and turned back to the window.
