"pidge" Lance yelled with worry as he ran towards the short paladin who stood on a bit of rubble that once was her house. The paladins volunteered to check the areas out for survivors but during radio call pidge was the only one not to respond.

"l-lance" Pidge weakly spoke as tears fell from her eyes and lance pulled her to his chest after seeing the sight.

He could see parts of bodies and by the way Pidge was sobbing into his chest he knew it was pidge parents.

"I'm so sorry pidgin" Lance whispered as he held her tightly. 

"lance what going on .. is pidge ok" keith asked over the com.

"they dead" Pidge cried out and the coms fell silent.

"Mr and Mrs Holt is crushed under some rumble, requesting garrison soldiers to dig them out and remove the body while I take pidge back" Lance asked weakly over the com.

"permission granted, stay with her lance" Shiro frowned and lance carried pidge back to the red lion, keeping her close and never letting her go.

"Katie" matt called as he ran out of the rebel ship hugging his sister tightly.

"welcome back matt" Pidge smiled trying to be strong for her brother shake.

"where mum and dad" Matt asked looking away.

"matt, there something I need to tell you" Pidge frowned and looked to the ground.

"Katie where is mum and dad" Matt asked with worry and placed his hands on his sister shoulders.

"they was sent on a mission to meet with some rebels, it seemed the galra noticed moment in our house where they set up the meet up ... they show the area with a canon from a galra ship .. they dead matt" Pidge spoke in a small broken voice and her brother legs gave in as he sobbed on the ground. 

Pidge stood holding back her tears and shaking as she was trying to keep it together. She was a paladin of voltron and needed to go back to the green lion to check other areas, maybe save more people and re-join other families. She couldn't break down and cry not now not until they checked all over the city.

"no why, why did they" Matt cried and d-7 walked over.

"please look after my brother, I have orders to check out my next area" Pidge spoke to d-7 who gave a small nod before kneeing beside matt trying to comfort him.

"let me pass Katie" Matt yelled as he tried getting into the room where their parents body laid until the shared funeral in a couple days.

"no matt, you shouldn't seen them like that" Pidge yelled back using everything she had to hold her brother back. 

"let me see them Katie, please I have to see them" Matt cried.

"you dont want to see them matt, once you see them you cant unseen them" Pidge cried out and pushed her brother back, her body shake as she cried.

"Pidgin" Lance called and ran over bringing her in a tight hug.

"matt, its best to listen to Katie on this one .. you shouldn't see your parents in such a shape .. lets get a drink" Shiro spoke with a small kind smile as he placed a hand on matt shoulder.

"who found them" Matt asked as he watched his sister cry into lance chest while the boy hugged his short friend tightly.

"pidge did, she was the one to find them" Lance replied and matt walked over to them.

"I'm so sorry Katie, its gonna be ok .. we be ok" Matt cried and pulled his sister from lance hugging her as they both cried together. 

"we be checking out the last areas tomorrow" shiro sighed and lance gave a small nod letting shiro know he keep an eye on pidge and matt for a bit. 

"lance" Pidge spoke in a soft and turned to the tall Cuban boy.

"yeah pidge" Lance asked.

"thank you" Pidge smiled softly and lance smiled back.

"anytime" Lance smiled gently and matt smiled.

"we better get some rest, we all have missions in the morning" Matt smiled and the three walking towards the shared rooms. 

The morning came and the paladins checked the last area. 

Lance kept a close eye on pidge noticing her struggling to keep her act as the day came closer to an end. The shared funeral was tomorrow and he knew she would let all her pain out since non of them would be standing as paladins but as family members. 

And he was right.

She wore a black dress while standing beside matt just crying through the funeral. 

Hunk, keith and shiro was all crying beside him as they couldn't handle seeing pidge or matt so broken. 

It wasn't fair, they been fighting to protect their love ones all this time and yet the siblings came back to find their parents gone forever by the enemy. 

It broke them all and all they could do was watch the siblings break. 

Shiro took matt to the pub for a couple drinks to help his friend get rid off all the pain he was feeling and lance walked to the green lion knowing pidge was crying inside. 

He didnt cry that day, he forced himself to stay strong knowing pidge was going to need him tonight. 

The green lion opened up for him and he entered to find pidge sobbing her eyes out like a child.

He spoke no words and just sat beside her before lifting her to his lap and holding her while she cried.

He held her close to let her known she wasn't alone and he was right by her side. 

His own tears finally fell as he listened to her cry the pain out.

After a couple of hours silence filled the lion.

"lance" pidge whispered not moving out of lance embrace.

"yes pidge" lance replied.

"promise to never leave me" Pidge begged and rested her head on his chest.

"I promise pidge, I never leave you alone again" Lance smiled softly and kissed her head.

"thank you" pidge smiled warmly and closed her eyes letting sleep take over her. 

Lance smiled as he heard her soft snores and soon fell asleep keeping a tight warm hold on the girl. 

He was never going to leave her side again, 

He will never let her cry like this again,

He never leave her alone

Becuase 

He loved her too much to make her cry.
