Chapter 9: The Red Orb of Fire

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"How am I supposed to use my sword with him up there!?" Blaise thought.

Xidrem smirked. "Wonder how to use that sword on me while I'm up here?"

Blaise's eyes widened before returning back to normal. His thoughts were read from Xidrem.

"I suppose I can go a little easier on you,"

Xidrem then flew down near ground level, still flapping his large wings.

Blaise frowned. "Actually, go a little higher."

"What?" Xidrem asked, surprised by Blaise's request.

Blaise pouted as he had to repeat himself once more. "I said go up a little more. Don't treat me like a child."

"Are you sure? A mere hu-"

"Yes."

Xidrem stared at Blaise before letting out a soft chuckle. "Alright, alright."

Xidrem then flew up to where dust became visible when his wings would almost touch the ground.

Blaise smiled and put a thumbs up. "Now that's better!"

Xidrem gazed at Blaise confusingly. "What is this human boy...? He's very different for sure..."

Within a blink of an eye, Blaise disappeared from Xidrem's sight. "Huh? Where did he go?"

Blaise had his sword out, prepared to use it. Holding onto the grip of the sword with both hands, he slashed the back of Xidrem.

Xidrem's eyes widened before whipping his tail towards Blaise. Blaise ducked immediately before thrusting his sword into Xidrem's back once more.

Xidrem turned around as Blaise was dragged along due to not being able to pull out his sword in time. When Xidrem had fully turned around, Blaise managed to pull out his sword and stared at the wounds he made.

The wounds didn't seem to have made much damage to Xidrem. Blaise frowned at the sight and gripped onto the sword tightly.

Xidrem looked behind him to see Blaise with a smirk. "Disappointed?"

"What do I do? I don't know anything else to defeat this dragon..." Blaise thought.

Xidrem turned around, facing Blaise. "Since you're different, let me give you a tip. One, such dull metal from a sword like that you possess cannot damage me."

"Dull metal...?" Blaise murmured.

Blaise looked at Zephania. Zephania only stared at Blaise. Blaise sighed, knowing that he had to go through this alone. But how...?

Blaise looked up at Xidrem and asked, "How do you defeat a dragon?"

Xidrem blinked at Blaise. "Come again...?"

"I said how do you defeat a dragon? Since I can't think of anything, don't know."

"Idiot..." Autumn deadpanned.

"I cannot tell you that. If I do, I'll only give away the chance of losing this battle to you." Xidrem replied.

"Can you give me another hint then?" Blaise asked.

Xidrem sighed. "No. Just one and that's that."

Blaise sat on the floor, childishly slamming the floor. "I said tell me! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me! Tell me!!"
