FOUR YEARS LATER...
Lauren
Nothing about my life had any routine.
"Lauren," I pushed my hair out of my face as I leaned on one arm to look over to the door of my hotel room, "We're leaving in two hours. Get up and get dressed." My publicist, Katie, told me as she was tapping away at her iPad.
I let out a breath as I let myself lie back and just take in the softness of the bed once more. Pulling the extra pillow into my arms and holding it close to my chest as I tried to get comfortable again. That was until I heard hurried footsteps walk into the room and pull back the curtains to now have me grimacing from the brightness. "Ugh come on," I groaned while turning over to get out of the light.
"Lauren," I opened my eyes and sat up slowly to see Katie shaking her head, "I promise when we get back to LA you can sleep all you want. It's just today and it's break for the next few weeks." She smiled while I rolled my eyes and got out of bed to walk over to the window.
The sun really brought out the skyline of New York this morning. I sighed as the sight put me at ease, that was until Katie kept nudging my arm. I turned to her to see her pointing downward. Following her finger I noticed fans outside on the other end of the street waving and screaming. A lot of them holding up theirs phones. That's when I clicked to me as I nodded my head and waved, I was in just my black Calvin Klein underwear set. I laughed weakly as I turned to Katie and shrugged before going to the closet to pick out my clothes.
"Remember how I said you make my job easy?" She asked me while I laughed from the closet and set out my clothes.
"Uh huh?"
"Only sometimes...you make it easy only sometimes." She groaned while I walked out to see her with her iPad again and beginning to walk out of the room, "I'll be back in an hour. I ordered you breakfast it should be here once you're done." She sighed while I smiled.
"You're the best," I sang while peeling off my underwear and making my way to the bathroom.
Though before I could step into the shower my phone went off near the sink. Grabbing for it I noticed the name of the group chat the girls had made. Dinah and Ariana really wanted to put it as, Cheetahs Amigas. I smiled as I swiped the answer call option only to have them all bickering.
"I told you guys we should meet somewhere else! The house is literally a mess!" Normani pleaded as I could see her shuffling around as she was putting on her work clothes that always just consisted of business casual. Along with this beautiful chocolate suede trench coat I'd gotten her after her promotion.
Normani got a full ride to Duke. There while she played for the lacrosse team, she did her best at forensic sciences and criminal justice. Graduating at the top of her class and later moving to California with me. I'd bought a house after graduation since I'd decided to just move there.
"I can clean. I have off for a bit anyway," Dinah said as she walked into the same frame as my best friend and sat on the bed, "Dinner will be better here anyway. I could get wine drunk in peace." Dinah joked while she looking over at her girlfriend who looked at her with a playful glare.
Dinah got a full ride to Stanford. She played for the team and even played against Normani at some games. I tried my best to show up to those when I wasn't out of the country because seeing those two against each other is better than any broadcasted game. At Stanford Dinah studied in social work. It seems she was inspired from her father and wanted to make sure other kids wouldn't suffer anything worse. To this day I don't know how those two managed to make a long distance relationship work like they did, but they did it.
