"Alright professor," Damon said into his phone. "How do we get rid of the queen of hell?"
Riley, Caroline, Stefan and Bonnie were stood around the phone, hoping that Ric would have the magical answer to all their problems.
"Are you sure Katherine's in our world?" Ric asked suspiciously.
"When Cade crossed planes after the 11th ring of the bell, other souls could step through too," Bonnie revealed. "Katherine would have jumped at that chance."
"Then why haven't we seen her yet?" Caroline asked, her arms crossed over her chest.
"This is Katherine Pierce we're talking about," Riley reminded her sister. "The first time we ever met her, she literally killed you, remember? The girl likes to make an entrance."
Ric sighed. "Either way, you're gonna need a new weapon," he told them. "Cade was killed with a dagger that was made from his bones. It was fused into glass by a white-hot flame. Do you happen to know where Katherine's bones are?"
"Oh," Damon exclaimed, happy for the first time. "We have every last one of Katherine's bones, in a cave underneath the old church. They're left over from a traveler barbecue she had when she tried to possess Elena."
Bonnie looked concerned. "But, even if we do have the bones, how would we make that kind of weapon?"
Suddenly, there was a different voice on the phone, Matt's. "We can put the bones in a metal dagger. My parents are in town, I can ask my dad for help."
Caroline frowned. "Wait, 'parents'... plural?"
"Wait a second," Riley stopped them. "Katherine didn't create hell, she just took it from Cade. So what's to stop the next person in line from taking over when we kill her?" She frowned. "What if we find a way to destroy hell altogether?"
"It won't matter if we can't get Katherine to show herself," Stefan reminded them. "Otherwise she'll be stuck here with nowhere to go."
"Well how do we do that?" Caroline asked, knowing as well as anyone that it was practically impossible to get Katherine to do anything that she didn't want to do.
Damon smiled. "Easy. She's obsessed with Stefan, and insanely jealous. If she sees anyone making him happy, she'll have no choice but to come out of hiding. So, we throw the one party that Katherine would never miss..." he trailed off, waiting for the rest of them to catch up with his train of thought. "Who doesn't love a wedding?"
Caroline gasped. "No, no way. I'm not throwing my one and only wedding in a day, Damon! I mean, my stepdad's in Colorado, and I've only tried my dress on once, and I don't even know if Stefan..." she trailed off, looking at the vampire-turned-human. "Do you- do you want to get married?"
Stefan immediately took Caroline's hands in his.
"I would marry you any day," he told her. "Especially tomorrow."
They kissed.
"OK, we can do this," Caroline said in amazement. "Let's get married!"
They kissed again, before Stefan and Damon left to track down Katherine's bones to create the weapon. Caroline sat back on the sofa, next to Bonnie, who couldn't control the sadness on her face.
"Care," she said, in a broken sounding voice. "I get why you said yes. Because you want to spend your life with him, in spite of everything. I understand, but... I can't watch you marry him. Can't watch him be happy. I... I can't do that to myself."
Caroline sniffed. "I understand."
Riley sat on Bonnie's other side, taking her hand. "Care and I are both connected to the reason that you lost Enzo. To be honest, I can't believe you're even here right now. You could jump on a plane and be rid of all of this."
