I when I enter all their voices died like the fireworks all stopped. "Veronica?" My voice shakes. I stopped breathing for a second. All the blood drains out of my face. A single tear rolls down and then streams come down. She looked at me stunned. She looked at me with sad eyes. I was speechless. I forgot what I was doing. I forgot why I was there. I forgot that the other guys were there. The only thing I was paying attention to was Veronica. The other guys and Lisette looked at me surprised. Christopher opened his mouth wide but no words came out. "Since when did this start?" I ask not able to see clearly because my eyes were foggy from my tears. "A year ago..." her voice was shakey. I grab my head upsetly. I ran my fingers through my hair. And I pulled the ends. Why wouldn't she tell me? Why would she tell them and not me? I walk up to her bedside. I give her a big hug. I smell her warm perfume. I rest my head on her soft shoulder. "Guys we should go. They need to talk." Johann said. They nodded and left us alone. As everyone exits the room Veronica's sobs get louder. I bury my head in her neck. I look up to her eyes. "P-porque? Porque no, no, me dijiste?" I said choking on my sobs. "I'm sorry Erick I kept something from you again. I didn't want to worry you. I wasn't going to tell Christopher but Lisette told Joel and Joel told Christopher. Everything was going well with us. I just didn't want someone else feeling bad for me." "Veronica," I put my hand on her cheek. "You still should have told me. You still would have been my Veronica. I wouldn't have looked at you differently. And I don't. I never will. I would just get worried." She wipes her eyes and wraps herself in the blanket. "I'm sorry I should have told you." She said looking down. "It's ok Veronica." I kiss the top of her soft head. I wrap my arms around her waist. I take in her aroma. She smiles. I missed her beautiful smile. It was like a star in the sky. I missed seeing her smile. She had a one in a kind smile. I've never seen someone's like hers.

*knock knock*
"Come in!" Veronica says. "Hey Veronica why are the guys all waiting out-" The nurse looks at me. "Ooohh. Um..hmm." "Gabriel this is Erick. Erick this is Gabriel my nurse." We shake hands. "Was he the nurse in your 'house'?" "Yep." "So Veronica how are you feeling?" He asks. "I'm fine." She says. "Ok. So you guys are still going out?" Gabriel asks. "Yes." "Ok be back by 10. Nice to meet you Erick." "You too." I say and he leaves. "Where are you guys going?" I ask. "We are going to walk around the park and we're going for ice cream!" "Can I go?" "Obviously!" She says and we laugh. "Should we call the others in?" She asks. "Not yet." "Why?" I interrupt her and I put my thumb on her lip. I crash my lips into hers. They moved along with mine. I missed her soft warm lips. I savored her delicious lips. I wanted to record every movement and remember it forever. When we run out of breath we put our foreheads together and our noses touch. I put my hands on her cheeks and she does the same with my cheeks. We smile. We hear claps. We turn around and we see the guys. "That was perfect!" Joel said. "Why do you guys always have to interrupt things?!?" I say. Veronica laughs. "Why do you guys always have to kiss?" Yoandri said raising his eyebrows. "He got you!" Christopher laughed and pointed at me. "Ah ha ha. Should we get going?" I say standing up. I stretched out my hand. "Yes!" Veronica says taking my hand.
We get out of the hospital and I feel a small breeze. She is looking up at the sky and I look at her admire the stars. Her eyes glow. They lit up. I look at every detail in her face. I was accidentally staring at her while smiling. "Do you get out a lot?" I ask her. "No. Not really. I get really tired and I don't really do anything." "Oh." I say. "Wait so do you know Juan?" "Yes I do," she says smiling. I smile back. I put my arm around her neck and I kiss the side of her forehead. She giggles. "Hey guys look a duck!" Christopher said randomly "A duck?" I ask. "Yeah look!" Lisette said pointing to a duck by a little lake. The lake was by the park. We spent awhile walking around the park and then we get ice cream. "What do you want to get?" I ask her. "The usual." Its been a year and I still remembered her usual order. "Can I get one mangonada please?" I ask the lady working there. "Sure." The lady says. Veronica smiled and she said, "You remembered my order?" "Duh!" I say and she laughs. The others order what they want and I get an oreo ice cream. We eat there and we are all laughing. I look at Veronica and I see how happy she is. I was smiling uncontrollably. We go back to the hospital and everyone leaves but I stay. "Veronica can I ask you something?" "Go ahead." I reach in my pocket for something. "Would you be my girlfriend again?" I ask and I pull out her promise ring that I gave her. I always kept it with me. She looked up at me with her beautiful dark brown eyes. She kissed me and smiles. "Yes." She whispers and I kiss her again.
