The drive home is silent. I want to console Dylan to explain everything but honestly I don't understand it myself. Tonight was a whirlwind, and my heads still spinning. Kai's words keep replaying in my head. I let my eyes roam over Dylan, he's staring straight ahead. His face is set in a hard line, he bites down on his lower lip slightly. I can tell its unconscious, a habit he has. He didn't say anything since Kai's outburst. Riley chased after him, glaring at me the whole time. Kalani, told me she was sorry and her and Jackson left. Elle stood there smirking.
"What a shit show" She said, her eyes glued to mine before she follows Kalani and Jackson. Dylan put out the fire. I wanted to explain then but I didn't know what to say. How could I explain it so it didn't look so bad. He extended his hand and we walked to the car together silently. Now we're driving, his eyes glued to the road ahead. I want him to say anything, even if he's mad. The silence is killing me.
"You okay?" I blurt, not knowing what else to say. He shifts in his seat, his grip tightening on the wheel slightly.
"Ya, just thinking" He responds, his voice a bit hoarse. His eyes don't leave the road, and it fills me with anxiety.
"What about?" I ask immediately feeling stupid.
"Nothing it's fine, how are you?" He asks finally turning to me. His eyes are softer than I expected and it makes me melt.
"I'm confused" I say, he turns back to the road quickly. He nods stiffly. I then realize how bad that sounds.
"Not about us, or about Kai. I'm just confused about what happened" I explain quickly.
"Ya he pulled that out of the blue" He agrees, I nod. He pulls into my driveway, turning off the engine. I don't move wanting to figure this out.
"I'm sorry" I say, he turns to me, grabbing my hands. His thumb traces over my knuckles making me shiver.
"Don't be. I don't blame you and you shouldn't blame yourself. It's not your fault he's still in love with you. I mean who wouldn't be" He grins making me chuckle. The pressure on my chest releases, and I take a deep breath.
"Thank you" I smile, he nods, his smile slipping slightly.
"Hey, I need you to know something" he says, I nod shifting forward.
"If you still have feelings for Kai, and I'm not accusing I'm just saying that If you do it's okay. You don't have to feel guilty cause I'd rather you tell me the truth and be with him okay. If he's going to make you happy. I know I said I'd never forgive you, but that's not true If he's the person you want to be with I support you. Don't let me hold you back" He explains, his eyes fused to mine. A warm feeling spreads over me, and I can't explain it.
"I...don't know what to say" I stutter, my head spinning slightly.
"It's okay you can think it over" he smiles shifting back. I stare shocked. How could someone be so good?
"I don't need to think it over, I want you not Kai. I'm not in love with Kai anymore." I say letting the sentence drop off hoping he understands just how much he means to me.
"You don't?" He asks. I shift closer, moving so my hand caresses his cheek.
"No idiot, Now kiss me" I exclaim, and he obliges. The kiss is anything but sweet. It makes my knees weak, and my skin tingle. I pull him in tighter my fingers clutching at his shoulders, as he grips tightly onto my waist. I shiver as his lips move down to my neck. I run my hand through his hair, as his lips travel across the column of my neck. A loud ring sounds around us making us spring apart. we're both breathing hard. Dylan quickly grabs his phone.
"Hello" He answers his voice husky, it makes me smirk.
"Ya, I'll be home in about twenty minutes" He says licking his lips. I'm enthralled by the simple action.
"Okay see you soon" He says before hanging up the phone.
"My dad needs me home, step mom to be, needs to talk to me" He explains, his eyes travel across my face.
"Okay, text me after. Maybe you can sneak in" I grin, he blushes but nods.
"I'm looking forward to it" He responds, I nod now before moving to peck his lips. I want so badly to deepen the kiss, but I quickly pull away.
"I need to leave now or I won't" I explain making him chuckle
"I'll keep you updated" He says as I hop out, I nod.
"Good luck" I say. I walk slowly to the front door stopping to wave. He doesn't start driving until I'm inside it makes my heat beat faster. I sigh leaning against the door. A tingle shoots through my lips, making my cheeks flush.
...
I stare at my reflection in the bathroom mirror. Today's the day I'm having dinner with Dyaln's dad, and new step mom. My nerves are out of control. I have no clue what to wear! Currently I'm wearing a striped turtle neck dress, that cuts off just above my knee. I spin around, checking out the dress from the back.  My heart thumps loudly.
"Aunt V" I call from the bathroom, I hear her footsteps approach.
"What's up?" She asks, peaking in.
"Do I look okay?' I ask turning to her, she looks me up and down.
"Very cute" She smiles
"Is it parent worthy?" I ask, she chuckles
"I need more information" She exclaims
"I'm meeting Dylan's dad and his step mom to be" I explain, her eyes widen.
"Oh, Ya the dress is very cute. Put on you denim jacket and it'll be perfect" She says, I nod.
"And pin back, here I'll do it" She says pulling out some bobby pins from the drawer. She twists some hair from my face pinning it back.
"Perfect" She smiles
"Thank you" I say, she shrugs. I follow her to the kitchen, explaining to her how nervous I am.
"You'll be fine I promise. You're great with me and I'm an adult" She says
"You're fun" I clarify she laughs, pulling out the head of lettuce.
"Just ask a lot of questions, parents love to tell stories" She explains, I nod
"That's helpful" I agree
"So how are things between you guys?' She asks
"Good, really good. Actually something happened with Kai the other day. He told me he stilled loved me and he plans to get me back. This was all in front of his girlfriend and Dylan so It was just a lot" I vent
"Seriously, how did Dylan react?" She asks grabbing a metal bowl from the drawer beside her.
"I expected him to be mad, but he said the sweetest thing. He told me that if I still love Kai that I shouldn't feel guilty. He wants me to be happy. He told me he'd support whatever I wanted to do. He's really amazing. I don't think I've met anyone like him. It really surprised me. I honestly thought he'd be, I don't know, possessive" I describe.
"Wow" she mutters more to herself
"I mean how old is he?" She laughs
"I know" I smile
"I think maybe he's in love. I'll tell you this much no man would ever put a woman's feelings above his if he didn't love and respect her" She says, my stomach twists and butterflies swarm inside me. My phone beeps, and I flip it over.
"Pick you up in thirty" Dylan writes
"Speak of the devil" I tell my aunt, she grins
"See you then" I respond placing my phone down. Aunt V continues to tell me about how when she first met Uncle Tom, he was so immature, and she couldn't stand him. The story obviously gets better!
...
"Are you sure I look alright?" I ask, as we walk to his door hand in hand.
"Yes you look amazing" Dylan smiles, I sigh anxiously. Dylan stops walking pulling me into him.
"You are the most gorgeous person I've ever laid eyes on okay, and my dad will love you. or at least tolerate you" He grins I shove him, but a blush covers my face. He leans down to peck my lips sending shivers all over me. When we walk in I try to take a deep breath to calm my nerves.
"Dad" Dylan calls out, it echos. We walk to the living room. A man who looks exactly like Dylan but older stands at the bar. I'm a bit taken back by the resemblance.
"Dad, this is Violet" Dylan smiles as we walk closer. His dad looks up from pouring what I assume is some very expensive whiskey. He smiles widely at me, his eyes raking over me.
"Violet I've heard so much" He extends his hand, I shake it.
"So have I Mr, Wong,  but I don't trust a word Dylan says, so I'm glad I'm finally getting to meet you" I quip jokingly, He laughs loudly, it fills the room.
"You can call me Vince" He smiles. Dylan squeezes my hand.
"Dinner's just about ready" Someone says, we all turn towards the voice. A tall brunette makes her way towards us. Her smile takes up most of her face it's that big. She's wearing a sparkly skin tight dress, and an apron that says kiss the cook. Her hair is down In tight ringlets, and she's wearing six inch heels. I'm definitely intimidated.
"You must be violet" She coo's before pulling me into a very tight hug. She giggles loudly before letting me go.
"You are so gorgeous" She smiles her eyes roaming over me. I'm a bit shocked but I quickly recover.
"Thank you, you're Chloe, right?" I ask, she nods her curls bobbing.
"I love your dress" I smile, she runs her hands down the sequins.
"Thank you, I love anything sparkle" She says, I nod along.
"Dyl" She smiles moving over to hug Dylan who seems very uninterested.
"So how did you two meet?" She asks shifting towards Vince, placing her arm around his middle.
"Knocked her down at the movie theatre, and then invited her to a party" Dyaln explains stepping closer to me, Chloe coo's loudly.
"How cute, was it love at first sight?" She asks just as a woman rushes in handing Chloe a glass of wine.
"No, well we were friends at first sight. I was actually seeing someone else at the time." I say, she giggles sipping her wine.
"How cute! What about you Dylan?' She asks
"I definitely liked her at first sight, then we talked and It was a no" He jokes, I shove him but laugh.
"He was obsessed with me" I say, making Dyaln and Chloe laugh. I notice Vince is on his phone texting vigorously.
"Dinners ready" Chloe suddenly says, grabbing Vince's hand and dragging him along with her. She's definitely very preppy.
"Good luck" Dylan whispers to me, making me chuckle. There a bunch of people setting the table.
"Sit" Chloe instructs, Vince is already seated at the head of the table. I sit next to Dyaln feeling awkward as someone pours me a plate. My mom would have this done every once in a while it was usually if we had guests, but I always poured my own food. I smile up at the woman who hands me my plate, she smiles back.
"Thank you" I say, she nods heading off.
"You're not allergic to anything Violet?' Chloe asks her eyebrows crinkling together. I can see how young she is now. Her face seems innocent.
"No, and everything looks amazing" I smile, she nods lifting her fork. I look over at Dylan, who rolls his eyes and grins at me.
"So how did you two meet?" I ask Chloe, she giggles, and blushes.
"Oh, we met at a night club" She states, her tone light.
"Oh" I mumble, she nods
"It was a club opening and I saw him in one of those VIP booths and It was definitely love at first sight" She sighs happily
"Must have been you guys have been together how long now?" Dylan asks his tone filled with sarcasm
"4 months, just about five" She answers the sarcasm going over her head.
"Wow" I say, she nods
"I know it was quick, but when you know you know" She turns to Vince, kissing his cheek. I turn to Dylan, he grins at me.
"You just know" He says, I chuckle quietly
"Ya exactly" She quips, Someones phone rings out loudly.
"I have to grab this" Vince says leaving the room.
"He's always working" She says looking after him.  She turns to us smiling widely. Dylan sighs, taking a bite of his chicken.
