"The thing about a hero is even when it doesn't look like there's a light at the end of the tunnel, he's going to keep digging, he's going to keep trying to do right and make up for what's gone before, just because that's who he is."
― Joss Whedon

North's P.O.V

I have regained my sanity, or at least Rhys has, he hasn't spoken to me yet but I can tell the kind actions of the servants helped him a lot, I guess you could say life has been a lot easier on me lately. The servants and I haven't spoken a single word to each other, but I know we have a silent understanding of each other.

Life, in other words, is more bearable now with food and water in my system, I felt some strength in my bones, but not nearly enough to fight my way out of here.

Today has been like any other day in this hell until a small servant girl ran in the room, she looked scared but calmed down when she saw me, I've seen her many times before, she's the one who brings the water and bread in the afternoon.

She has black hair and a pale face, she can't be older than thirteen, but she always had a light red line across her neck that concerned me. She smiled a little to show she meant no harm to me, she then leaned down to my level and I stared at her in shock and confusion, what was this girl doing?

She smiled again and grabbed my right hand and pulled something out of her pocket, I felt immediate coldness hit my fingers, she covered the object she gave me with my fingers and smiled once again. I then heard someone yell and her head darted to the door, the sound made her jump, and yet she still smiled.

She then turned and looked over and pressed her fingers to her lips, telling me to be quiet.

I nodded understanding, she then nodded towards my chained foot and then bolted out of the room, I was left in shock sitting on the floor. I then gently opened my palm and resting in the center was an old key.

I stared at the small thing in shock, this girl risked her life to bring this to me, that's why she looked so scared, that's why there was so much yelling. She stole it and they want it back, I admire her strength and will power, but now I'm worried for her fate, if she's caught, she'll definitely be killed.

I frowned and stared at the door in determination, but I'm helpless, I cannot do anything to help the poor girl. Of course, this key will unlock the chain around my foot, but how far would I get before I'm caught?

I have to be careful about my escape, I can't fail this, not when someone risked everything to give me a chance.

I looked back down at the key and smiled weakly.

"Thank you.."

Ashby's P.O.v

I sighed and looked out the window, I had been up all night watching Constance's progress in her coma, the girl was out of danger at the moment, but I fear that without North, she won't recover, at least not easily.

So many things going on at once and yet so little time to process all of it at once. I closed my eyes and leaned against the cool glass, my breath fogging up the area. Everything's different now, I may have come here for a different purpose, but fate has brought me to something even greater.

When Nymeria found me, I was still mourning the loss of my son and daughter-in-law, even after all these years, the pain of their loss is still fresh in my mind. I have even been thinking about my lost grandson, I wonder how he fits in the human world these days?

I know he's alive, but I don't know where he is, I was so convinced North was him, he has Damon's hair and skin, but Nadia's soft features. But he can't be him, my grandchild was sent to the human world to live a normal life and to never have to know about this life ever.

At first, I denied Nymeria's request for me to help the young boy with his beasts and unknown powers, but when she said I could avenge my lost family and rid the world of the monster who tore us apart, I was more than happy to help.

This monster will pay for what he did, he killed my son, my daughter-in-law, and cursed my grandson to a horrible life full of pain and confusion. Thankfully the elders were able to save my little boy and force his curse to be dormant. They said the best way to keep him safe was to send him to the human world, where his curse would be forgotten and nothing could trigger it.

He's the only family I have left in this world, and yet I cannot go near him, we'll meet again one day, I'm sure, family is family and there is no changing that. As the saying goes, blood is so much thicker than water.

I then opened my eyes again and smiled weakly, I then heard something crash behind me and I immediately turned around, prepared to fight if need be. But I was left speechless when I saw Constance sitting up and looking around.

The young redhead eyes then met my own and her eyes filled with worry,

"Constance-" I began but she cut me off,

with a single tear running down her face.

"W-Where is he?"
